Popped in for coffee and cake with my SO. We both had a giant slice of chocolate and cherry cake. So big we could have shared one between us - we ended up taking leftovers home!
Read moreThe owners are happy to sit and chat and when they learned we were new to Stockport gave us lots of recommendations for other nice places to visit.
They sell a plethora of cakes, including gluten free options, plus a nice range of vegan bagged sweets (including marshmallows!), books etc.
Will definitely be returning!

When I moved to Stockers I was overjoyed to find this place. Consistently varied and delicious cakes, loads of cosy drink options, and best of all super friendly staff and owners. Better yet they're now stocking vegan items like vego bars.

I expected maybe one or two vegan cakes, but when I was told that they were all vegan I needed to take a seat to recover, and, um, order two cakes to help with the recovery. Cherry almond cake and rocky road in case you were wondering 😋

Really lovely and delicious selection of cakes and treats at the counter. Watch out of the slices of various cakes from the shelf; always a generous slice to the point where were always end up taking leftovers home with us. Great fan of the Biscoff cake. Really nice place to chill and have a coffee. We always buy some to take away too.

Not only are the cakes amazingly delicious, but the family owners are so friendly and welcoming we visit every weekend.
Read moreThe cafe is modern and bright offering hot and cold drinks and a selection of up to 10 cakes to choose from with pouring or squirting cream if desired.
Selections range from cupcake, brownie, millionaire shortbread, tray bakes and sponge cakes including a gluten free option.
Our favourites include; cherry cake, biscoff, coffee and walnut, blueberry crumb cake, millionaires, cupcake, banana bread, lemon drizzle.....all of them tbh!!!
Would definitely recommend a visit you'll be made really welcome.

A good selection of delicious cakes in this bohemian little corner of Stockport. I had the chocolate and raspberry cake which was moist and scrumptious and hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. I took home peanut and chocolate slice which was equally delicious.

In the past I'd tried vegan cakes at vegan festivals and they were heavy full of dates and didn't really make a good swap from the conventional soft sponginess of NV cakes.
Read moreI have finally found amazing vegan cakes, soft, sweet and fluffy just like the conventional NV cakes I had a penchant for before my vegan journey + without the animal cruelty. Hillgate cakery is my favourite food creator and vendor so far.
I took my family to the shop on Sunday the only snag was the oldies were unable to sit on the high stools, so a few oldies/disabled/kids friendly seats please. Apart from this great shop, great service, great vibe, great food.
I can predict soon people will be queing out the door...
BTW I had the biscotti cake it was divine

We had the banana bread this morning. With earl grey and hot chocolate. Very tasty all round. Made a nice change to hear some rock music in the background as most cafes and restaurants have annoying noodly jazz or middle of the road rubbish! 😀

Amazing bakery, I have been several times and have always been blown away, have taken cake round to my non-vegan families and they said it was the nicest cake they have ever had! You can sit in and enjoy cake and hot drinks or get cakeaway, lovely owners too. So happy this has popped up in Stockport!

Run by a young couple who are really lovely, Hillgate Cakery is a real haven in Stockport. Customers are well looked after and the cakes are heavenly. This is a 'must go to' place when visiting the town.
