They were very helpful with vegan-ising my burrito but they have previously taken off all the vegan burritos, toast and oatmeal. #Veganuary

Amazing vegetarian pizza - Edit
Lots of veggies, real cheese and it doesn’t look like they have vegan cheese, but plenty of other vegan options.

Berry Good - Edit
I ordered the Berry Acai Bowl without honey. It includes mixed berries, acai, and mango topped with house-made granola, fresh berries, and coconut. The berries were big and ripe. I've noticed some cafés use plastic bowls even when dining in, so I appreciate this place does not. I wish they had more marked vegan options, but you can probably just omit animal ingredients on several menu items.

Cons: only one marked vegan option

Nice cafe - Edit
We didn’t think there was a huge menu for vegan food. Only the tofu burrito was labelled vegan but we also modified the pesto sandwich to make vegan. (No cheese or pesto). All of the smoothie bowls were vegan so we also tried one of those

Good stuff! - Edit
I had the green bowl and it was pretty delicious and my so got the veggie panini which was also fantastic. The only thing was that I was a little concerned about the veganism of some the labeled options based on previous reviews. I’m pretty confident all of our items were vegan but I’m just warning. That being said it was really good food.

Fresh vegan options, plus BYOB! - Edit
Love this cute cafe in Waikiki Beach! Lots of fresh-tasting vegan or veganizable breakfast and lunch options—from smoothies to smoothie bowls to wraps, burritos and pizza! BYOB available with no corking fee. Staff is super friendly, too! Ate breakfast there 5 out of the 7 days we were in Waikiki because we loved it so much!

Vegan options & dog-friendly - Edit
I was able to bring my golden retriever inside of the restaurant (and there were at least three other dogs inside). The tofu burrito was really good, as was the coffee. They have more on their menu I can’t wait to go back and try!

This ended up being our go to spot bc it was close to HHV. Luckily, their wraps, pizzas, and acai bowls were delicious! They have a few vegan things, but are accommodating to leaving off honey or cheese, etc. Cute spot with delicious coffee!

Tasty Smoothie Bowls - Edit
We had a tasty lunch at Hiking Hawaii Cafe! There were lots of options with the smoothie bowls, though I was definitely tempted to try the pizza! My husband had the Summit Açaí Bowl and I had the Green Bowl. He had the passion fruit iced tea to drink and I have the lavender latte with coconut milk. The server asked if I wanted my latte on the sweet or less sweet side, which I appreciate because I prefer less sweet but always forget to ask for it.

Staple during our trip! - Edit
We were staying at a hotel nearby and ate here almost every day of our trip for either breakfast or lunch. Acai bowls were the best I've ever had, their juices were really good also. We ate the breakfast burrito (veggie, hold the eggs and cheese) and found them flavourful and filling. For lunches we had the tofu / hummus pizza and the tofu burrito - both were delicious.

Good if you don't mind them mislabelling items as vegan - Edit
TL;DR: the granola (which they feature in several bowls labeled as vegan on the menu) contains honey.
Read moreI went to this place for breakfast many times during my trip since it was so close to my hotel. The coffee is very good and the smoothie bowls were yummy and filling. Too bad I found out after several visits that the granola in their "vegan" bowls is made with honey.
On my last visit, I ordered one of the acai bowls that is labeled vegetarian and asked them to hold the honey. After I paid, a server told me that the granola is baked with honey and that they would take it off. When I asked about the granola used in the "vegan" bowls, she said that it is the same granola, but that not everyone is as "diligent" as me. So basically they know that they can't label bowls with added honey vegan, and yet they are still feeding vegan customers honey without their knowledge. Not cool.
Pros: Good coffee
Cons: Mislabeled items with honey as vegan

Great place for breakfast in Honolulu! - Edit
Great place for breakfast! Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were given a warm welcome and given time to look over the food choices. I decided to order the breakfast burrito and a smoothie; the burrito was a decent size and was filled with veggies and tofu. The tropical smoothie hit the spot with pineapple and other juices.
Read moreStaff was friendly and helpful with any questions we had regarding vegan food options since hubby has severe nut allergies. Liked that staff confirmed that hubby's food choice was completely nut free before finalizing our order. I also appreciated that our food arrived quickly after we placed our order and it was moderately priced. The restaurant vibe was very relaxed and I appreciated that they also use eco-friendly steel straws and other ways to cut down on cutlery and food waste. We will definitely visit again in the future!
Pros: Friendly staff, Eco-friendly straws , Good portions
Cons: Moderately priced

Good quality, tasty, eco-friendly packaging - Edit
Over the course of my stay nearby, I had two acai bowls, a quinoa wrap, and a tofu wrap from Hiking Hawaii. Each was delicious, service was friendly, and meals were fresh made to order. Plus the meals I ordered to-go were in eco-friendly packaging. I also like all the information about hiking, there were maps and guidebooks. Great little spot!

Underwhelming and Confrontational - Edit
I have been looking forward to dining here for a few years based on the reviews, but after today I will definitely not be going back. I ordered the tofu burrito and a cup of coffee with soy milk. The only flavor in the burrito was from chunks of veggie burger, there was no sauce or seasoning whatsoever for the tofu cubes and veggies. After the meal, I let the register employee know that the coffee had a funny flavor to it, like a musty or stagnant water taste. I was not looking for a refund or a replacement, I just wanted to give them a heads up so they didn’t continue serving that coffee to other customers. Shortly after, another woman came to the table offering a replacement for my coffee and proceeded to state that everyone compliments their coffee, I am the first person who has ever complained about it, and she drinks 6 cups per day and it tastes absolutely fine to her. Her demeanor and defensiveness made me and my guest very uncomfortable. I was willing to give it a second shot after by less than impressive tofu burrito, but after the treatment from the manager (or whoever she was), I will definitely not be returning.

Items labeled as vegan were no longer vegan - Edit
Disappointed that on our fifth visit one of the servers said the vegan Pattie they have been using may no longer be vegan. They checked (Morningstar frozen burger) and it was not. So many of the items labeled as vegan were not. They did offer to make us custom vegan burrito, which was good. The staff is very friendly and the coffee was great but sucked.to learn we had been eating eggs all week.

Hidden Treasure - Edit
Hiking Hawaii has a full assortment of vegan food in addition to having the option of going hiking. Veggie bagels, burrittos, smoothies. All recommended. The place is kind of tucked away down a set of stairs but once you find it, it has a nice atmosphere going on and is quite busy.
