💚 Green Rebel!! - Edit
So excited for Green Rebel! Got to try it at a food convention in Seoul months ago and it’s really good stuff!
Read moreThis place was popping on a Saturday night in the REXKL food court! Found REXKL just fine on Apple Maps, and used the pics from here to make sure I was headed in the right direction. They had two plates available and an awesome drink menu. The Sunday brunch menu looks great too but I’m not sure I’ll make it back this trip. Great meal and super friendly staff.

Disappointing Experience - Edit
Apparently on Sunday they have a different
Read moremenu, which is not what I was expecting. On a non-Sunday day, they serve Malay-Indo food, which was what we were looking for to try. However, the Sunday menu only features Western food! and the prices are insane! (They're more expensive than the non Sunday food). It's quite sad because it deters people away from trying plant based food as people would assume all vegan food are expensive and not affordable. Especially among locals. But that was not why we were disappointed. It was because there is no mention of a "special Sunday menu" on their Instagram page, nor any post on their feed indicating that they don't serve their usual menu on Sunday. It was really disappointing because we came long way to have a nice dining experience.
Pros: Flavorful food
Cons: Really pricey, Doesn’t have a fix menu

vegan restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. we had the cheese sandwich which was nice since there aren’t many places with vegan cheese in the area but it was really expensive for what it was. the staff was really friendly though!

Good food - Edit
I ordered the indomee kari and the tauhu bakar which was good but definitely not something special. It's a bit more expensive but still reasonable. The indomee kari is a bit spicy even though it's not described as it on the menu. Service was really quick and nice. Maybe I'll come back to try something else.

Delicious - Edit
Hijau provides delicious, 100% plant-based dishes based on traditional Malaysian cuisine. The food costs more than what one would expect in Malaysia, but given that it's located in KL, this is acceptable. Highly recommend the fried tofu.

100% Vegan - Yassssss! - Edit
Love how lots of my favourite dishes are on the menu.
Read moreFood had loads of flavour. Yummy!!
Chef Idan is doing a fantastic job at veganising Malay food. I also love how he's so creative and pushing the boundaries with plant-based fine dining experiences.
The vegan puns on the signs are really funny too :D
Perhaps a lil bit on the expensive side if you choose dishes which have the plant-based meats.
Pros: 100% vegan, Good service when we were there, So much flavour!
Cons: Parking is on the expensive side , Right next to a place that serves pork

Great Location Gets New Vegan Offerings - Edit
Is in the exact same location, right down to the sinks, as the now-closed Lauk Pauk was. It's obviously a great location as it is an open area with lots of other outlets nearby so it makes it a good option if you're looking to have a drink with your meal or if you're eating with non-veggie friends. Obviously, so many meat outlets being so close can be an issue for some.
Read moreThe menu is kept small but has some interesting options. It is entirely vegan-based which is a plus and is very clear when it comes to the dietry information. The fusion burgers and grilled cheese looked interesting but we were in the mood to eat something a bit more SEA so we went with the Nasi Padang (the largest menu item set) and the Indomie Kari. Both dishes came with a curry sauce and surprisingly, they were very different (often, the curries you'll get to go along with platter dishes are just those that are pulled from the curry dishes) and both surprisingly well-made considering they weren't that much to look at. The Ikan Balado was really bold and full of flavour, even with it not being something I usually like that much. The curry noodles were promised to be creamy and they really were! Very enjoyable. Portion sizes were generally right with one dish being enough for one person...so if sharing, go with a ratio of 1:1 when ordering.
Not meaning to compare too much but even given that the dishes are a bit larger, prices were about double of what Lauk Pauk used to charge for similar. This is probably closer to what you'd be expecting to pay but it's not the great value meal that it was previously.
Overall, a little on the expensive side but a great place to eat if you're in the area.
Pros: Food Was Served Very Quickly, Location Continues To Be A Huge Plus, Dishes Are Filling And Well-Made
Cons: Much More Expensive Than Lauk Pauk Was, Meat-Serving Eateries Very Close By

At Hijau I probably had the best vegan food in KL. Great local fusion menu, all vegan and very diverse dishes. We had the Curry and Ramen and both were amazing! 10/10
