Boise's First Fully Vegan Restaurant and Their Experience Shows!

High Note Cafe has become my favorite place to eat out. Their menu is full of American comfort food classics, all prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Everyone I've taken out here loves it!

I've tried a variety of dishes (I love that the menu is updated seasonally!) but my favorite are their pancakes/hotcakes and the soup of the day, served with incredibly flavorful, thick-cut housemade bread. Sometimes I can't decide which to order and just get both 🤤 In the summer, I indulge in a Berry & Herb Lemonade or Berry & Herb Iced Tea, and on cold days, I always get their hot tea, which comes with at least four different teas to choose from!

The portions are incredibly generous for the price, making it a great value. They give a discount if you pay with cash, as well; something to keep in mind for the budget-conscious. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and even remember my face after so many visits 🥰

While the cooking smells can linger on your clothes if you eat inside, the cozy-cool atmosphere and delicious food make it well worth it. The only other downside is that it can get quite cold if you're seated over an air vent. These things aren't an issue if you can get outdoor seating when the weather is nice!

I love visiting High Note Cafe at least once a month with friends & family to enjoy the delicious food and friendly atmosphere. (If they had delivery I'd be eating their food every week!) High Note Cafe is a true gem that I highly recommend.

Pros: stunningly delicious food & drink, both comfort and good nutrition in every dish, friendly staff

Cons: no delivery options, cooking smells get into your clothes, tables over air vents can be exceedingly cold

Only vegan restaurant in Boise.

The owner switched their restaurant to fully vegan in 2019 after watching Dominion. I thought that was pretty cool. This is the only fully vegan restaurant in Boise, and it's delicious and definitely deserves support.

I went there twice over the weekend. I was in Boise and got a super stuffed breakfast burrito and their scramble, and both were delicious.

Great service but okay food

Got a pesto sandwich with tomato soup. I asked for seitan instead of mushrooms. The sandwich was good but a little under seasoned, like the roasted pepper and pesto needed more salt. The seitan was a little rubbery, but did taste nice.

The tomato soup was honestly not great. It was pale and watery and unlike any tomato soup I have had. Other menu items might be better (like the breakfast burrito maybe) but what I ordered was just okay.

Definitely give them a try, the staff were very friendly and Boise's vegan scene could use the support!

Pros: Service, Speed, Portion sizes

Cons: Underseasoned, Pricy

Boise’s only all-vegan menu

Love this place. If you’re planning a visit, please support this gem. My favorite is the Ruben sandwich with a Caesar salad-DELICIOUS.

Great breakfast burritos

Had a Philly cheesesteak breakfast burrito that was really good. Paired it with a fantastic blackberry sage lemonade. Service was very good!

Delicious and huge portions!

I had to visit this all-vegan cafe. I had the brunch quesadilla, stuffed with beans, veggies, and a tofu scramble - it was delicious and I couldn't even finish the entire thing. The raspberry mint lemonade was the perfect refreshment on a hot day. Service was amazing. On the more expensive side, but this was basically a meal and a half. If I'm back in Boise I'll definitely be trying more menu items!

Pros: Huge portions, Delicious food, Friendly staff

Delicious Brunch!

Best food we had in Boise! Our server told us they are 1 of only 2 all vegan restaurants in Boise! We went for a Saturday brunch. Outside and Indoor seating. I had the Philly Breakfast burrito. I also asked for a side of the cilantro crema. Paired with the habañero hot sauce on the table it was amazing! My partner had the Masher which was equally delicious. Everything was seasoned so well. Diner coffee was decent too. Our server was so friendly, too!

Pros: Brunch, Soy curls well seasoned

Only vegan spot downtown Boise

Cute little restaurant downtown. Has a cute little outdoor seating area tha’s mostly shaded by either trees or the building. The food was great and full of enough flavor. I loved the food, the variety, being full homemade vegan, and our server was also great! She was very friendly, courteous, and on top of it.

Pros: All vegan!, Great service, An actual restaurant

Cons: No nit picks. Was great.

Nachos supreme

Visiting on a work trip and had to try this place out. I got the half size nachos and they were really good. Filled me up.

I wanted to go back to try some Sammie’s, seeing they have gf bread. On my brave app it said they were open, so I walked 25 mins there and they were closed lol. Wednesday’s they are not open. I’ll try and check back in there maybe Friday after the conference and maybe even go back again before I head to the airport. 💕

Pros: Gf and all vegan, Delicious food

Cons: Kind of step prices.

So good

The homemade bread is what made the grilled cheese so amazing. The tomato soup was a bit coconutty for me but that’s personal preference. The service was fantastic and they even brought my friend’s 1 year old a plate of cucumbers and oranges. I’d go back.

Weekend go to

We had the tomato soup and black bean quesadilla. The soup was a thin consistency, but good. As other reviewers noted, the quesadilla cheese is house made and a soft slab versus melted cheese. I found the cheese tasty, not overly salty, and was fine with the consistency. The sauces; pico de gallo, avocado salsa and cilantro lime cream were fresh and really made the quesadilla sing! I used all of them. Service was attentive, friendly and helpful with other places to visit. Dining room is small. We visited on a Monday around 2p and there were a few tables occupied and steady flow of to go orders being picked up. They have parking beside the building. Definitely worth another visit.

Update: this has become a weekend staple for us. Really enjoying the brunch items… High Note Potatoes, Tofu Scramble with potatoes, Breakfast Sandwich and Hot Cakes. I do wish they offered some items a La Carte. I like to have sweet and savory in one dish or being able to order a savory entree with a side of one hot cake versus a whole order.

Good vegan food for all!

I was visiting my family in Idaho. My dad found High note on a foodie message board.
Among the 6 of us, I am the only vegan.
We had:
Hot cakes (comes with syrup, “melt” butter and strawberry puree) broccoli cheddar soup, breakfast burrito, potato tacos, strawberry rose juice and hibiscus iced tea.

EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!
We were all very satisfied and full. 🥰

Pros: All vegan, Chill, quiet atmosphere, Extremely friendly staff

Cons: Small, if that’s a con for you.
