Heybo, Fusionopolis

The guy in charge just told me they offer no vegan options. He instead referred me to the place next door.

Update to the above from January:
1) His comments are backed up by their online menu at time of writing (June); select the "vegan" filter, only beverages appear. I've added an additional 'pro' to this review to reflect that they currently offer vegan beverages.
2) 'The place next door' is Saladstop where the menu marks 2 vegan food items.

PS As proof, I've uploaded a screenshot of the online menu, filtered by "vegan".

Pros: Honest server, Offers vegan beverages

Cons: Zero vegan food options

I am not sure what the guy told you -maybe he did not understand what means 'vegan' - but this place has several vegan options. It is sufficient to just check the menu. you could have done that before posting a totally misleading review!

Hi andreeani,

If I may politely reply to your comment. My review is 100% factual based on my experience when I visited..The server was polite, helpful and came across as very knowledgeable. Maybe I should have added they've no menu items labelled vegan.
Please share details of the items you feel are vegan, and any supporting evidence you have to back up your claim. I'd be delighted to ask the people there next time I swing by.
Best wishes for a peaceful day.

Hello Vegankuntz,
Please don't add the claim on the menu label because this is also not entirely correct: they don't have labels on the signature bowls when you order, but they do have several printed lists with all the ingredients, nutritions and diets (vegan, vegetarian, gluten etc). These lists used to lay down in the shop, but were recently withdrawn to be updated when some menu items were changed. I just went downstairs, took several pictures of these list but I unfortunately I can't post them here as the platform does not have this option.

I talked to the people working there (one indeed was not sure about what is vegan and asked me to go to Salad Stop, but his colleague was more knowledgeable). We went together through menus to be 100% sure, so here the options you can also check on their website: https://order.heybo.sg/

Build your own bowl:
Bases: Tri-Colour Quinoa, Mixed Grains, Green Soba, Cauliflower Lentil Rice, Garden Greens, Sweet Potato Noodles

Protein: Falafel, Jackfruit Shiitake Patty

Sides: Fried Eggplant, Basil Tofu, Tomato Salad, Charred Broccoli, Avocado, Roasted Pumpkin Wedge, Spiced Chickpeas, Grilled Mushroom, Roasted Brussels Sprout , Oriental Cabbage Salad, Mixed Bean Salad

DIP: Purple Sweet Potato, Red Pepper (Hummus), Roasted Pumpkin, Avocado Edamame

Garnish: Mixed Seeds, Spiced Peanuts, Lime Wedge, Chilli Flakes, Tortilla Chips, Radish Pickles , Garlic Breadcrumbs (mentioned as vegan on the label)

Sauces: Green Pesto, Peri Peri, Yuzu Soy, Beetroot Miso, Black Garlic Vinaigrette, Green Chutney,

I think there are plenty of options to get a very vegan bowl!

Look, no intention to get into a polemic, but as reviewers, we have a big responsibility towards our communities and the shops we reviewing. Given bad ratings based on incorrect assumptions is harmful for all parties involved: for our fellow vegans, for the shops and even for ourselves, for our reputation as reviewers. That's why checking properly and making sure the information is 100% accurate is so important.

Wishing you a nice day too and hopefully you will one day try a nice vegan bowl at this shop!

Hi andreeani,

I just checked the menu, ensuring I select the Fusionopolis branch. There's a filter for different diet type, including "vegan". Apply the vegan filter, there's only beverages in the response; zero food items. I've updated my review to now also include that fact.

There could many reasons why the food they offer isn't vegan. You referred to falafel; maybe the falafel is cooked in the oil in which they cook chicken? Or maybe its the kitchen protocols? E.g., I once asked in Cedele if they have anything vegan. The person responded that they didn't because they slice vegetable on the same board on which they slice meat.

I don't know the reason for which you believe you know more about the kitchen in that place than the guy in charge. Nor do I know the basis on which you make your decisions on deciding whether or not a product is vegan friendly; Hope? Optimism? Wishful thinking? Whatever it is, its up to you and you certainly don't have to justify it to me. From my perspective, I try to be clinical about it (although there's bound to be occasions when I get it wrong). Based on a calm assessment of the evidence, I now have an even higher level of confidence there's no vegan food options available at this venue.
I'm sure you are acting in good faith and I wish you well.
