Lovely setting - will be back

Lovely setting and very friendly staff. The food was all very delicious. However, I felt very sick after and ended up vomiting once I got home (very unusual for me, hadn't vomited for over a decade before!). I'd really love to go again and I hope that was just a one-off "me issue" rather than the restaurant. We had the starter platter (hummus was amazing), shared haggis and the salads, and chips. My partner had the banana blossom but none of us were keen on that. I'd like to go back to try the £10 lunch deal with the macaroni cheese.

Food and service was too notch

Service was excellent, polite and attentive but not obtrusive. Food was delicious - we had a sharing nibbles board for starter with nuts, olive, some bread, and a hummus and butter bean dip (both delicious) - we asked for extra bread for this and this was given at no extra charge. For mains, I had the beet bourguignon pie- it was so flavoursome and the pastry was nice and light. My husband had the haggis neeps and tatties and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be back here again! It was ideal for a special occasion meal.

Pros: Service was excellent , Varied menu with lots of vegan options , Food was high quality and very flavoursome

Nice but expensive

This is probably the most expensive restaurant I've been to in Edinburgh. The food was nice, and probably worth the price, but I think I won't go there again because of the prices. They also added an optional tips to the bill which I thought was a bit sneaky.

Pros: Friendly staff, Nice food, Nice space

Cons: Expensive

Top scoff

Getting closer to vegan every month. Good selection of nice healthy dishes with lots of flavour and your gonna get you five a day.
Visited on several occasions and always very happy. If you are in Edinburgh for a few days l, Henderson’s is a must.
Great lunch again.

Tops.

Cheesecake for the stars ✨

Ok, so I came here seeking vegan haggis, which I’d been too scared to try when I last visited as a teenager. However, the server convinced me to try their lunch special, which was a selection of salads and soups. And then I had to have this caramel cheesecake — I was initially suspicious (see my previous comments on vegan cheese), but the creaminess and sweetness was absolutely divine.

Best vegan food in Edinburgh

We had the most amazing dinner experience in Hendersons! Every dish is special and tastes sublime. The atmosphere is unequalled. Staff is kind and attentive. Highly highly recommend this place!

Good quality food that celebrates vegetables

The menu was very exciting. Lots of flavourful options that are not typical choices for a vegetarian/vegan eating out. As always I would love if they committed to selling only vegan food. Staff were very nice and welcoming. Great history being the first vegetarian restaurant in Scotland.

Pros: First vegetarian restaurant in Scotland , Great menu, Dishes were very tasty

Cons: Sells dairy

Fantastic meal

Hendersons had incredible food, great service, and is set in a really enjoyable atmosphere. It’s Scottish good made veggie and done so well, absolutely worth a trip if you can while in Edinburgh!

Disappointed

VERY EXPENSIVE. Myself and my partner ordered a starter, a main and a pudding to share and it was £95 which automatically included a 12.5 tip. Starters were ok but hummus had a funny taste and was overly spiced. We left half the mains as they weren't nice. I am happy to spend good money on good food but unfortunately this was not it. The staff were nice and they fussed my dog but ultimately you go for the food not the people.

Delicious flavours

We were here sampling some food for an event I'm organising, and very excited at what's to come! The haggis dish was absolutely delicious and so creamy, the tagine full of sweet and savoury flavours, and their salads are very creative and filling. I only gave a 4 as I personally don't give 5 stars to vegetarian restaurants on principle. It's a lovely atmosphere though so would go here over a more casual vegan place if a special occasion or looking for more fancy dishes.

Upscale Scottish dining!

I got an appetizer with mushroom stems - and holy heck, I dream about those mushrooms years later! The haggis neeps and tatties were fun, and the dessert was good. Pricy but yummy!

Pros: Upscale, Delicious , Great presentation

Cons: Expensive

Impressed - setting a new bar for Edinburgh?

I had really good meal, and so did my date. Banana blossom for starter was out of this world - I even tried to order another one at the end of the meal instead of desert (kitchen had closed). Then for main I had a celeriac medley of wild mushroom, kale, and other stuff. My date had the polenta. Both really special. Both vegan. I heavily recommend. This is the first time I've been to the new Hendersons and I had been to all the old Henderson cafes/restaurants in Edinburgh many times and although I liked them all this is a step up. Not sure I can think of a better place to eat vegan in Edinburgh. Very impressed and will be back.

What a lovely restaurant! Great food and lovely service. A really nice, relaxed atmosphere - spent 3 hours over lunch without realising at all! Tried the polenta and the salad platter and would recommend both!

Nice food but not fantastic

The starter we had a nibbles board and that was all really tasty and I couldn’t fault it, however the mains were pretty average and the dessert was also average. It was nice but definitely nothing to scream about. The vibes were good.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Great starter , Nice atmosphere

Cons: Quite expensive , Under-seasoned at times

Very friendly and tasty

Very welcoming and friendly staff, who looked after us after we were treated poorly at another place. Food was tasty, we just had a mix of starters and sides as we were in a bit of a hurry.

I had a hearty scotch broth and an orzo salad, my wife had a banana blossom pakora which was delicious and quite spicy. Our son polished off some excellent hummus and sourdough.

Would happily go back as we used to go to the old vegan Henderson's which is now closed.

Pros: Plenty to choose, Friendly staff

Cons: A little pricey, Not much choice on kids menu

Always enjoyable

Sometimes the mushrooms are magically cooked, sometimes the dishes aren’t quite as good as before and we leave less happy. Nevertheless, if friends come to visit this is where we’ll go as the service, drinks and dishes are generally good! There’s a fabulous non-alcoholic mixed drink from overseas but the name escapes me. Would recommend😄

Pros: Options, Interior Design, Location

Cons: Quite Expensive, Not Always Perfect
