This bakery was lovely. We had the breakfast croissant which was sooo good and very filling, and all of their baked goods looked fantastic. Service was quick and the coffee tasty.

Delicious tender croissants !
Read morebreakfast croissant had sausage and cheese. Potatoes were listed too, but I didn’t really see your taste. I was still really good .
It could be more fully warmed up, but that’s just a small nitpick.
Pros: Quality vegan options, Nice little seating area

The title says it all. Best vegan croissants ever. Large, flaky, and soft on the inside - heaven.

My husband ordered me a small birthday cake from here. I am not a huge cake fan, but my stepson is and he loved it. Mind you he loves to bake as well, and couldn’t believe the frosting was vegan. I also had a croissant from the bakery, but it was unfortunately very, very greasy. Yo end on a positive note, I had the most delicious coffee I have ever had in my life called a ‘San Diego Fog,’ which consisted of Bergamont, vanilla, orange, and espresso. Twas divine!!

Delicious pies and croissants - Edit
Drove 160 miles round trip to pick up thanksgiving pies, and it was worth it. Got the chocolate walnut pie and apple crumble, as well as PSL cake. My family members who aren’t vegan said it was the best apple pie they ever tasted. I loved the walnut pie. The PSL cake is gorgeous, haven’t tried yet. Also got a breakfast croissant for the drive back and it was so flaky and delicious. I can’t wait to come back for Christmas!

Super lucky to have just by chance found this place!
Read moreI tried the cheese danish and also got one of the croissants, doesn't look like a croissant and I can't remember the name, that staff recommended. Brought it home for MIke and he was like "oh my!" so I tried it and LOVED it. I can't wait to go back.
While there I got an AMericano which was perfect.
Staff is awesome.
There is some seating, not a lot.
Right in HIllcrest.
Pros: Super-delish baked goods, Awesome staff

My favorite vegan bakery in San Diego County - Edit
On a Thursday morning, I stopped by Hazel and Jade in Hillcrest before work. I can’t never choose one when I visit, and I ended picking four pastries. My all time favorites are classic croissant, Coffee Cake, and the Danish with cream cheese and fruit jam, Coconut Berry Croissant Bun. I shared them with coworkers, and we shared and tasted all of them. We loved each one of them.

The best pastries in San Diego - Edit
I always come here everytime I visit San Diego. The pastries are phenomenal. They give it to you cold, but if you plan to enjoy this while being out and about, ask them to warm it up for you. Even though this place is 100% vegan, including their sugar, it’s not evident in their storefront, which is probably a good thing, since it might deter some customers away. There’s always customers everytime I come here (but not too packed or overcrowded), and I’m sure that no one would know these pastries are vegan unless they are told or they read it online. My non-vegan friends and family love this place too.
Read moreNot crazy about the coffee I got here, and I don’t think I’ll try anymore. Since these pastries are for to-go, it’s not a big deal since I wouldn’t be enjoying their food while being there anyway, so I can get my coffee elsewhere.

We stopped in to grab a couple pastries to-go. Ended up with an almond croissant and breakfast croissant (sausage, potato, cheese). Both were excellent and huge. Well worth the money.

Vegan Pastries! - Edit
I have had Hazel & Jade on multiple occasions, and the pastries are generally really good. My personal favorites have been the mini loaf cakes and breakfast croissants. Even my mom, who rarely eats vegan cheese, really enjoyed their breakfast croissant. The last time I went, I ordered a chai, and it was mediocre and very sweet, so I wouldn’t order drinks again.
Read moreThe shop is small but clean, and there are always many options. My only comment is that I have never had a great experience with the people working. I wouldn’t say they are rude, but I have always been given the cold shoulder or pushed along. However, the pastries are good, and it’s all vegan, so I let it slide.

So many options to choose from but I got the cinnamon roll (which has crunchy caramelized edges, YUM!) and the corn cookies, both delicious!! Their coffee drinks were also great. They have vegan whole cakes available as well, which is really cool!

Solid vegan baked goods - Edit
This little bakery is located in the heart of Hillcrest and was a fabulous find as we were walking around taking in the sights. My friend and I stopped by around 13:00 and they luckily still had some options available.
Read moreThere were a few great sized portions of their cheesecake brownie, lemon tarts, and muffins still available. I went for the brownie ($5) and it was a wonderful treat for sure. It was not overly sugary as a traditional brownie and retained a similar consistency and gooeyness. The lemon tart was also fantastic and another must-try. For these prices, I will happily return for more someday.
Definitely stop on by and reap the benefits of an all-vegan bakery because the goods here are top notch. Take advantage of their frontside outdoor seating and people watch with a treat and latte - makes for a great afternoon break. Thanks Hazel & Jade for the awesome sweets!

This is my favorite spot in the county for pastries. I have had SO MANY of them and you literally can’t go wrong with any of them, except maybe the ones you leave un purchased. Haha. I especially love all of their croissants. Savory, sweet, plain, they’re all delicious regardless of one’s dietary preferences.

Fantastic Breakfast Spot - Edit
I stopped here based on a recommendation from our server the previous night, and I'm so glad I followed her advice. I had a ham and cheez croissant and it was delicious. Not sure I'd ever had a vegan croissant before, and this did not disappoint. The cappuccino was also incredibly yummy. Will definitely be returning to this place to try more items.

Not a frequent coffee drinker and introduced to a local coffee maker with the drip offering that Hazel & Jade serves when a friend I was with ordered it. Tried a sip, now I enjoy this a tasty smooth coffee that put coffee on the map for me regularly.
Also introduced to the fact that not all shredded coconut is created equal. Previously disliked it, after trying their magic bar with it sprinkled on top, I now know much more about the different types of coconut products out there and enjoy it! Thanks for introducing me to new possibilities!
