Big variety buffet - Edit
We were unsure whether to choose the buffet or à la carte. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the big variety of vegan options at the buffet, having expected more vegetarian dishes.
Read moreWe appreciated the mix of cuisines, along with a quite nice selection of desserts (try the Plum Haselnut Crumble).
We paid for two main dishes ~65 CHF in total, and for the two desserts 25 CHF (5CHF/100g).
Pros: Many different cuisines , Laid back Ambiente , Fast and attentive staff
Cons: Not on the cheap end

Almost all vegan buffet 💚 - Edit
The buffet has almost all vegan dishes. The variety is unbelievable, see here a picture of my plate with over 25 different dishes. The tastes are really good, balanced and no 2 dishes taste alike. The dessert buffet has also several vegan choices. I really liked the ambience, very city hip.

We were so excited to come here as it was on our must-do list for Zurich. We were not disappointed! The buffet was fantastic! The outdoor seating was charming and the staff was so pleasant and helpful!

What were the vegan dishes you had?

I did a grab-n-go, so the details escape me. Looking at the photo, I remember there was an amazing marinated artichoke heart, a Thai salad with heirloom tomatoes and marinated seitan, some sort of mixed grains salad, beautiful crunchy mixed greens, cucumber with dill. All super fresh and very tasty.

Mostly very high quality vegetarian fare as a buffet option - Edit
The buffet option was much appreciated, as we had little time to enjoy any atmosphere. The base meals we chose were quite good, and the plumb/bread pudding (Zwetchen crumble) was excellent, but the regular bread pudding was mediocre at best.
Read morePros: Lots of choices for a vegan buffet, Most of the choices were good to excellent, Good service at weigh-in counter

Best-of worlds cuisines - Edit
Lots of choices of true dishes, not just raw vegetables, from cuisines of all over the world ( lebanon, greek, indian etc). Can be however crowdy, and quite expensive for ZH at midday

All you can eat or buffet style - Edit
I would definitely recommend this place if visiting Zurich for the experience. Food was ok and many many many options and everything quite well labeled, there was way more vegan options than vegetarian, with exception for desserts, as most of the dishes were vegetarian. I went with their all you can eat for breakfast option and I was served a prosseco even! Options I got were not very breakers suited but that was my good choices 😂 it was more like a lunch for me. I see a few comments commenting on the price but tbh looking at Zurich prices I believe the price here is fair, it’s Switzerland after all!

Yummy but crazy expensive - Edit
I know it’s Zurich but gosh I paid about £80 for three plates that weren’t even that full! Went for my birthday last year and the food was good though

Awful customer service - Edit
I wanted to leave a one star but HC automatically add another for being veggie.
Read moreOrdered from Guy A, Guy A serves me my order but then while I pop my card in the machine he walks off and Guy B waits for the transaction to go through, which it did. The machine said, Transaction Approved, Remove Card. I removed my card and Guy B looked panicked and called over Guy A. Guy A says something went wrong, I said the transaction had gone through fine and went to walk away. Guy A says unless I fill in a form of personal info Guy B will have to pay for my order. It all sounded a bit like a scam to me. He said, you must have had this happen before. I said, no never. He kept insisting I complete the form otherwise Guy B will have to pay for my order. I wish I’d thought more quickly and asked why Guy B when it was Guy A who’d served me but I was hot and now very bothered. Guy A said he’d get Guy B to pay and so I just filled out his darn form. I felt very upset and angry with the blackmailing treatment of this person.
Cons: Poor customer service, Blackmailing tactics

Brilliant breakfast buffet - Edit
We met a friend here for breakfast. The buffet is veggie and vegan and everything is well labelled. There are a lot of options for breakfast/brunch. A lot is not your typical breakfast fayre but that’s ok! There are a lot of different tofu dishes and tofu ‘egg’ mayo.
Read moreThe coffees are excellent and there is a good selection of juices.
This place is a weight restaurant and you weigh your food to determine the price.
Cakes are also available but we didn’t indulge this time!’

Classic Vegetarian Place - Edit
I honestly have to go against the grain here.
Read moreIf this were fifteen years ago I'd be over the moon with this place. Like, oldest veggie restaraunt in the world and has vegan options?! Wow! But tbh.. Today? It can do better..
Buffet is insanely expensive for what it is. Sit down meals are more often than not, only veggie - and my supposedly vegan meal even came to my table veggie. I had multiple bites before anyone came to change my plate out with a vegan dish.
Everything was good, sure! But quite basic fare. If you want to eat at the 'oldest vegetarian restaraunt in the world' (an unconfirmed and undoubtedly only european record, btw) come here and say you did. But when the meal comes out to like 200 francs for two people? Meh..

Superb buffet - Edit
An amazing selection of vegetarian and vegan food on the buffet with about 80% vegan. The food was all very tasty, hot and the buffet was kept very clean and replenished. It isn't cheap, but neither is Zurich. You pay by the weight of your plate, but with so many amazing options it is hard to not weigh your plate down!

Love it! - Edit
I‘ve been there several times and I love it! I‘d say it‘s one of the most famous vegan/vegetarian restaurants because it has several locations and because it has existed since 1898! This is definetly the nicest location since it has the biggest buffet!
Read moreI love that it has a buffet where you can choose from everything (most of it is vegan) and it‘s super delicious! And on the top floor there’s an á la carte menu. I had a burger and the rest also sounded really nice but I prefer the buffet. Even though it can get a bit pricey when you‘re hungry I can really recommend a visit there!
My favourites are the „Züri Gschnätzlets“ and „Ghackets mit Hörnli“. And I love that they offer free water to drink.

I went twice to this place. Once just for smoothie and a brownie, both were really delicious. A second time for the restaurant. You have the choice between choosing on the menu or choose at the buffet (you can then weight your plate for price).
Read moreAs we didn’t not fully understood there were these two options, we ordered on the menu. A rösti with mushrooms and a burger. They were both really good! I will definitively go back!

I was blown away by all the delicious vegan options available at their buffet. If I had stayed longer in Zurich, I probably would have eaten there everyday to really try everything.

Our waiter kindly sat us on a patio behind the restaurant which was more quiet than the one on the busier street.

Avoid the buffet - Edit
We chose the buffet pay-by-weight option after being lured in by the novelty of dining at the worlds oldest vegetarian restaurant.
Read moreWe both carefully piled up a modest amount of food, which totaled to 30 and 35 chf. Most items were mediocre & bland at best. One curry I got weirdly had a strong urine smell and foul taste.
We walked away feeling very disappointed. The service was friendly enough, and the menu items looked promising. However For the price/quality I would avoid the buffet.

Amazing gnocchi - Edit
I had the gnocchi mit Safran-Velouté and it was soooo delicious. I’m usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were savory and meaty and the sauce was so rich and delicious! Highly recommend.

Delicious buffet! - Edit
Delicious food with many great vegan choices. Their buffet offers a wide array of dishes—from curries, to roasted veggies, to falafel, to cold salads, and more. You can find healthy options, junky options and everything in between. We tried a variety of dishes and everything was delicious and very well prepared. I personally really enjoyed their jackfruit curry, their green hummus, the mango bircher muesli, and the blueberry cobbler. Expect to pay at least $35-40 per person for a moderately filled plate of food.
