Serves meat, vegan options available. A small cafe in downtown Amman that takes over an alley and is frequented by locals and tourists alike. Offers a very basic menu of Jordanian staples like falafel, hummus, fuul, french fries, pita bread, plus all-you-can-eat raw tomato slices, onion, and mint leaves as condiment. Drinks are limited to bottled water, chai, mint tea, and coke. There is a small cluster of restaurants in this area, and the place on its left also serves vegetarian food. Please call/contact to confirm the correct address. Often addresses are building names and a room in the building. NOTE: Reported to serve meat Jan 2020. Please verify and let HappyCow know. Open Mon-Sun 12:00am-12:00am. Open 24 hours.

Nice cheap meal, menu is a bit small - Edit
Service was nice and quick. Proce was a great value and food tasted ok, nothing spectacular. One possible improvement would be more options on the menu and explanations of what everything is (for us tourists)

Great naturally vegan options - Edit
A no-fuss place where the naturally vegan options in Jordanian cuisine are simply excellent: hummus, ful, falafel and flatbread tomatoes and pickled vegetables. Incredibly cheap if they treat you like a local (not sure if they don’t though!)

Great Traditional Diner-Style Falafel and Mutabal - Edit
I have eaten at Hashem three times over the past couple of weeks. It is a no-nonsense diner-style set-up with very nice stuffed falafel. I particularly enjoyed the mutabal, and the generous serving of mint, pickles, tomatoes, carrots and raw onions. Take it all with tea and enjoy!

My favourite hummus and fuul - Edit
We’ve eaten here the last two nights and loved it. Absolutely wonderful. Delicious hummus, fuul, falafel and tea. They have a tick list paper menu in English/Arabic.

awesome authentic Middle Eastern cuisine - Edit
I spent six weeks backpacking in the Middle East. I loved my time in Amman and the hospitality of the people. Hashem offered some delightful middle eastern cuisine including lovely ful, hummus, and falafel. Friendly service and tasty cuisine. Recommended!

Fast and fresh - Edit
Hashem is a wonderfully busy spot. Workers/tourists sit side by side and eat fresh falafel, humus bread and beans, tea flows and so does the vibe. Helpful staff and smiles all round.

Simple, good and cheap - Edit
This place is a must try in Amman and probably one of the most famous restaurants even though it looks very simple and you might even walk past it without noticing. They offer several vegetables and falafel dishes. My falafel wrap was good and very cheap.

Must in Amman - Edit
Again, writing this review a few years late, but this place, even though some days it may seems turistic, it is a local place and also a must in Amman. Vegan options are great, couldn't stop eating falafel and hummus, delicious!
Read moreNote: it may be overpriced if they tell you are turist, depending on the staff. Just take into account that food here should be really cheap

Simple food done perfectly - Edit
Hashem is in the heart of Amman and is super popular.. rightly so! They do the best hummus and falafel we ate during our entire trip (and we ate a lot!) And it was only 4 dinar for enough hummus, beans, falafel, salad and flatbread and a bottle of water for two people!! The atmosphere is buzzing too.

It’s so good and cheap, you get a lot of food for something like 5JOD, even if they don’t have a menu to see the prices.

Typical hummus and Fallafel at affordable prices (vegan options) - Edit
This is the most famous (but also the cheapest) place in Amman for hummus and fallafel. It's served very quickly with salad, fries, and another dip with beans. All of that (which you fill up on) is charged at 2.25 JD per person. Very very cheap. Highly recommended. A very generous glass of tea included in the price.

Address listed won’t get you anywhere, but we’ve been told by locals who showed us how to get there ‘it’s very famous, you can ask anyone’. Service was a bit confusing but you get a serving including foul, babaganoush, hummus, falafel, 3 pieces of flatbread, a side salad (raw onion, mint, tomato) and a beverage for 5JOD. Was enough to feed to, so you only have to get another drink and 2 can eat for 6JOD. Form what I’ve seen they also serve fries.
Read moreTo pay you just have to go to the counter.
Just don’t expect the same level of ‘customer service’ you’re maybe used to from ‘the west’. It’s busy and popular with tourists and locals alike.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Busy
