Garden burger - Edit
I ordered the Wicked Garden Burger which came with Pepper Jack Cheese, Spinach, Tomato, Onion, Avocado with Homemade Chipotle Ranch. The veggie burger tasted great. They had several options for different bread including whole wheat. You can make your order a combo, and they have chips and bottled drinks to add to your order. Loved the atmosphere and the music themed decorations.

Read moreI got the JIMI HENDRIX panini: Garden Burger, Pepper Jack, Spinach, Tomato, Onion with Homemade Avocado Ranch. The garden burger was not homemade and very heavily potato based, hence no protein at all. The avocado ranch seemed to have very little if any flavor. The raw spinach and tomato were tepid inside the panini which did not create a very enjoyable texture or flavor experience. Overall, pretty skimpy fillings that left me hungry after paying $8.25.
While the deli is locally owned, it is now a chain with 5 locations and my sandwich definitely seemed like it was from a chain with pretty meager fillings and lack of flavor.
The menu sounds like it could be really good but in actuality not so great. I don't think I would return unless I was passing the Newport branch and there were literally no other options.
Pros: vegetarian options
Cons: options are disappointing, skimpy fillings, locally owned but not locally sourced ingredients, bread & veggie burgers very "industrial"

Nice local sandwich shop in Orono - Edit
Harvest Moon has lovely panini sandwiches and salads. They have at least six vegetarian options on the menu plus a daily special that is always vegetarian or vegan. For vegans, the options can be somewhat limited. I would think the best bet would be to order off of their custom sandwich menu or ask them to not put dairy on some of the vegetarian sandwiches on the menu. There is now a second location in Bangor.
