Need to check the menu with staff - Edit
I had lunch at Haru with a friend. I ordered the vegetarian set. I checked that the miso soup was vegetarian-it wasn’t. It contains fish stock. I said that the menu shouldn’t label something as vegetarian when it isn’t…. On the other hand, they made some alterations to the set to suit me. As long as you check with the staff, you’ll be able to get something vegetarian/vegan.

I’m a huge fan - Edit
Been here multiple times and food is great. The staff last time didn’t get the order right and instead of everything coming out together and I did have to ask where the platter was (we got a variety of entrees) but that’s not the end of the world. Amazing food and will continue to keep going

Worst Japanese Meal - Edit
My experience with Haru was very poor, I found their food to be tasteless, claggy, and underwhelming. Some omnivorous friends found their meal to be very hit or miss, with some dishes being amazing and others very poor. I found some of the vegan options to be okay, but they used the wrong type of tofu (firm instead of silken) in the agedashi dofu, ruining my favourite dish. Service was also inconsistent. If I had to choose a Japanese restaurant in Palmy, Yatai wins hands down. I'd rather go somewhere I'm guaranteed a good meal with good service than play roulette with my dinner plate.

Cons: Korean style Japanese food, Some dishes just awful

Our go-to for delicious Japanese food! - Edit
Haru is the perfect location for lunch or dinner. It can get busy so it's always worth making a reservation if you can but often they can squeeze you walk-ins in too.
Read moreThe food here is always so fresh and delicious and presented so beautifully. The teriyaki tofu dinner set offers a selection of scrumptious little bites, a small bowl of rice, and a full portion of tofu and vegetables. It's my go-to order as I love sampling a little bit of everything (sushi, gyoza, tempura, edamame, etc.) and is perfect at lunch or dinner. The vegetarian platter (ask for vegan) is another great way of trying a smaller portion of all of their vegan offerings at once.
Haru has gorgeous decor, super friendy and informed staff, and is a lovely place for a special meal!
Pros: Fresh and tasty food with lots of vegan options, Nice atmosphere, Friendly staff
Cons: Portions on the smaller side, No vegan desserts
