Since this is a Happy Cow review, I'll start with saying that the food was excellent. All vegan, and each meal was among the best vegan meals I have had anywhere. Plus, they don't skimp on the quantity.
This is a truly inspiring meditation retreat. Two yoga, breathing, and meditation sessions a day. However, the focus is not on perfecting your pose, but on improving your mindfulness which, after all, is the purpose of yoga. There are other activities scheduled as well, but also enough free time to relax and provide time to integrate what you learn each day. The teaching staff was friendly and accessible.
Hari Hara has been open for 13 years, but they have recently moved into a new, modern campus in Siem Reap. It's about two acres in a quiet neighborhood. A variety of rooms are available depending on your budget, but all of them have comfortable beds. Most have ensuite bathrooms. The guest house has two rooms, one with four beds, and one with two beds. There is a shared bathroom and shower area for the six people.
There are lots of quiet places spread out around the campus with hammocks and chairs, so plenty of places to be alone for a bit when needed. The pool is also large enough to accommodate the number of people using it, though a little short if you want to swim laps. We were there at the end of January. There were a few mosquitos, but I barely noticed them.
In addition, Hari Hara attracts guests from around the world. It was a treat to connect with so many wonderful people from a variety of backgrounds on a similar path.
