special bimbap

Il ristorante serve cucina classica coreana ma lo staff è molto gentile se chiedete di fare delle variazioni che non contengano derivati animali.
Piatto molto buono e location tradizionale. Accetta carte di credito. Vicino ad hanok village

Excellent vegan option

Staff understood vegan request and provided a high quality bibimbap and banchan. Very quick and efficient.

Home of bibimbap!

This restaurant claims to be the restaurant that invented bibimbap! It gets full and crowded but put your name on the list anyway, because the tables move fast. Staff is friendly but very no-nonsense; as soon as they see your phone for translation they will say “ok vegetarian, no egg or is egg ok?” Clearly they get a lot of people asking for the same modification!

I thought the dolsot bibimbap was excellent though there was just a handful too much rice. The stone bowls were HOT, and the rice got nice and crispy!

I ate with a non-vegetarian so they brought out all the banchan, most of which I couldn’t eat. If you’re squeamish, ask your dining partners to eat no meat as well, since some of the banchan were visibly animal (I won’t go into detail but there was one that did surprise me the day I was there). This shouldn’t deter you, because this place is really good, but I figured it was worth mentioning, since some people find that sort of thing very disturbing.

worth a visit

we were not too sure about this place at first. We gave them a written note we had prepared in Korean on what vegans could and couldn't eat and there was a bit of headshaking. However, another customer helped translate. The next night we returned and they recognised us, big smiles, and then they brought us an excellent vegan bibimbap.

Pros: authentic

Cons: just persevere a little in convincing them

Good bibimbap

Ordered hot stone bibimbap with no meat and the waiter knew right away that I was vegetarian. When they brought out the banchan, the waiter made sure to clarify which ones were okay for me to eat. He spoke some English too which was very helpful! The bibimbap was good, though I have had better in Korea. However, I really appreciated the staff making sure I knew which banchan were safe to eat.

A few things to note: one of the banchan does have peanuts so be aware if you have an allergy.

Pros: Staff aware of vegetarian and vegan options, Good bibimbap

Cons: No takeaway available and portions are quite large

Earthy tasty namul

If you ask in Korean for vegan they'll bring good treats. Watch out for the side dishes tho. It would be nice if they'd shave off the price for all-veg-- you have to order a beef bibimbap without beef or egg. It is tasty and worthwhile to eat here, nonetheless.

*edit: the yellow blobs in the bibimbap are ginko. That's awesome!

Good but spicy!

Good bibimbap, not the best I had though, but they can do it vegan! Seems like the restaurant is now well aware of vegan people because some waiters know a few words of English like "no beef, I know!" when I wanted to show them the translation on my phone. so it's ok and they're now used to it :)

Pros: The bibimbap can be vegan!, You can have an egg on it for vegetarian, Almost of all of the bachan are vegan

Cons: One of bachan (side dishes) contains crabs

Good bibimbab, but not the best

They can make the bibimbab without meat. You also get a lot of side dishes which are all vegetarian (I think also vegan, but of 1 dish I wasn't sure).

Pros: Many side dishes

Cons: No egg (for vegetarian)

Fantastic bibimbap and helpful staff

The bibimbap dishes aren't vegetarian on the menu but we showed the waiter a translation saying we didn't eat fish or meat and he very quickly understood. He was also able to make one portion with egg and one without.

We were impressed when he brought the banchan as he showed us all of them and then ran through which ones were vegetarian and which weren't, leaving the ones with fish on the trolley. This was reassuring and showed he understood what we had asked for.

The bibimbap itself was really good. We had the bibimbap in a stone bowl which kept it very hot and made the rice on the bottom go nice and crispy. It had a really nice flavour and was beautifully presented. The beer was also quite cheap, which was a nice bonus.

Pros: Clearly understood we were vegetarian, Local and authentic bibimbap, Helpful staff

I love the place. Very local experience

First time trying bibimbop since it’s locally from here.

It’s best to come here at the opening time so it’s not that busy (17.00). The ladies working here took so much care of me.

I asked several times with translate whether the dishes have any animal traces including fish or meat sauces which is often in korea.

It looks like they understand what’s vegan and they can do something for you.

They also refilled some veggies and they taught me how to eat it. In the end, you need to add some water to the rice that is stuck on the bowl and scratch it. Super cool haha😄
