Excellent crispy tofu - Edit
Note: I went to the Hanjan South location. There are only 3 vegan options on the menu - crispy tofu, bibimbap, and japchae. However, there are more vegan options at the Hanjan Oliver location.
Read moreThe crispy tofu (Doobu Twigim with Maeun Doobu sauce) was 5 stars! The tofu cubes were breaded and fried to perfection, crisp on the outside but tender on the inside, coated in a delicious sweet and spicy sauce along with assorted fresh vegetables. It also came in a very generous portion, easily enough for 2 servings. I would definitely order this again!
However, I was disappointed to find out that for the vegan bibimbap and japchae, they simply removed the beef and egg without adding an additional source of protein...
They serve complimentary banchan - the pickled radish was especially tasty. Allergens and vegan options are listed on the menu. Service was quick and efficient. Decent prices. Nice atmospheric vibe.
Overall I really enjoyed my experience here. I only wish they would add a vegan protein source to the bibimbap and japchae, and a few additional vegan dishes would be appreciated too!

Good food - Edit
We stopped at Hanjan for a quick bite. The restaurant is located in the corner of the same building as Orii. I’ve never had Korean food before, other than kimchi, so I really don’t have another example of Korean food to compare to. We weren’t in the mood for anything deep fried so we settled on the vegetable japchae and the avocado rice bowl. The vegetable japchae seemed like it would have benefited from more vegetables. The rice bowl was good, with the candied seaweed not being overly sweet. The dessert menu comes on the vegan menu, but there aren’t actually any vegan desserts. We will definitely eat there again, and try some of the fried things.

Quite good - Edit
2/3 dishes we tried were delicious. The cauliflower had a good texture but the honey mustard flavor was just wrong, would love to try another next time.
