Mostly vegan and gluten-free paradise - Edit
Hammam Basar Salon is definitively my favorite restaurant since they cook whole foods based on organic ingredients. The rather large food portions are placed in lovely pottery and are decorated really nicely using lots of fresh herbs. The salad piles in bowls are literally art.
Read moreHammambasar is paradise for
- plantbased or vegan eaters
- for gluten-free eaters
since the majority of dishes are "safe" for both eating habits.
Gluten-free
all except Baklava, Yufka pastry (Börek + Yufka pocket) and bread - they offer glutenfree bread or crackers though
Vegan
all except Baklava, Yufka pastry (Börek, Yufk pocket) and Feta cheese which normally is optional in salads
Even though, there is only a single menu per week plus a few food choices like daily salads and soups, lentil/vegetable stew as well as permanent foods like the Hammam Basar Salad and Hammam Soup or the large mezze dish (ask for the vegan option), it doesn't get boring to eat there.
Instead of bread they offer also whole rice crackers - the taste is similar to the japanese Senbei.
The daily options are available in German at https://www.hammambasar.ch/tagesmenue/
As a desert I love the kakao-aronia torte, it's heavenly - the piece is perfect for two after one or two mezze dishes or, if you alone and want to eat lots of comfort food, I can recommend a medium salad and the kakao-aronia torte ;)
The staff ist very attentive and helpful. Seating is inside, in a small court yard, as well as in the front of the building in a lovely quiet street

Hummus and chill - Edit
Chilled out place that's also a spa and salon. Open on Sunday afternoon and a short walk from the lakeside. Had a friendly welcome and although the mostly vegan menu is in German our server was happy to run through it. We took his suggestion of the mezze plate which was enough to share for lunch. With a caraffe of homemade lemonade to drink it made for a nice meal.
