great Mediterranean option for vegans & vegetarians

I sampled many of the vegan options here. Based off of previous reviews, they seems to have really improved. I recommend the hummus, falafel wrap, lentil soup, & tabouleh. Staff is nice & knowledgeable about what is & isn’t vegan.

Pros: several vegan options, reasonably priced

Cons: No vegan “meats” for vegan gyros

Focus on appetizers

The menu may not appear to have much to offer at first, but one has to order creatively when eating vegan in Jacksonville. The appetizer platter (three appetizers) is enough to serve two in our family. Falafel, hummus, and baba ganoush are top choices. The tabbouli is so-so, but otherwise all vegan options are delicous.

If you're a big eater, try the buffet during one of S.A.V.E.'s regular meetings (see meetup.com) when extra vegan options are provided. Waitress Effie is terrific during these events, requesting extra vegan goodies from the kitchen (for example, spinach pies or hot dolmas) and even providing separate checks.

Pros: delicous appetizers, good value, accommodating

Cons: closed Sundays, limited entree options

Not a great selection for Modern Vegan

Menu is lacking and I would opt for soup at Panaras before here. I can get humus anywhere. Beware the buffet is open to 2:30 but they don't add items to it after the lunch croud leaves. I'm usually more descriptive in a review but have to tell you to eat elsewhere. I don't think this should be listed.

Cons: Food, Atmosphere , staff
