Gorgeous setting and delicious food - Edit
We visited Halapua by Kapuhala for lunch recently and were so impressed. The setting is beautiful, with tables located next to the stunning infinity pool with sweeping views over the sea.
Read moreThe menu was creative and we enjoyed the diverse range of dishes - none of us are vegan but the food was tasty and filling. Attentive service and a really stylish setting. Evident how much time, love and care has gone in to designing the restaurant as well as the small resort that it serves. We loved seeing the gardens that supply fresh vegetables and herbs for the kitchen and generally enjoyed a casual, relaxed lunch. Will definitely return!
Pros: Excellent food, Gorgeous setting, Sea views

Beautiful view, great services and - Edit
The location is very easy to access both car and motorbike, I was there in my own car several times and driving to this place is very easy. They also provide pickup services but you have to park your vehicle in the parking spot of Kapuhala and call them for the pickup I'm gonna try to call for this pickup service next time.
Read moreStaff here really give a good service and made me feel special, on the 3rd times of my visited one of them know exactly what kind of coffee that I always had, it just small details but they do remember which's made me very impressive.
We had eggplants and froisgrais. Unbeliveable that these meals made from plantbased because its tasted very delicious! Definitely come back more and more !

What a perfect surprise!! - Edit
I stay at villa nearby and looked for a restaurant and was 100% happy at Halapua. Amazing vegan lunch, friendly staff and nice music. The location and food is done with passion and love, you feel it already when you enter the place. I will definitely visit again to try some other dishes at dinner time and probably stay at one of their tents too.

Overwhelming !!! - Edit
First of all the restaurant was easy to find, only 3 min from lamai Beach away, it goes up to a hill, where you can see the sunrise and the beautiful jungle of koh samui, the air is so much better up there. We couldn't believe our eyes, even the entrance is so cool und you feel like you are in the jungle but still in a fancy restaurant, they have a big sportpool where you can swim. It was my birthday, so my husband and I wanted to try as much as we could. We had 4 cocktails, one was better than the other one, you can't even compare because every cocktail had a different taste, so good anyway. We had also 4 appetizers, you can see every meal in the pictures. The main course was not from this earth, it was overwhelming, the cook decorated the food so lovely, it was like art for me, but the highlight was for me the Ananas pudding, just WOW! All in all it was a food orgasm my taste buds had the best experience ever. They got an own farm plus a wintergarden, so almost every ingredient is from their own organic farm.
Read moreWe had also the honor to talk with the chef cook and the owner himself, they were so friendly and humble, the only reason why I would travel again to koh samui is Kapuhala. 🙌🏽😍
They got also a shuttle, which brings you down after the food if you need one. Thank you for the best birthday dinner of my life.

Read moreHalapua is heaven for anybody who loves good, nutritious food. The menu is fantastic, the service is excellent and the decorations very thoughtful. Could not think of a single improvement on this experience. My family and I stayed here and absolutely loved the entire experience. From the exercise facilities to the conversations with like-minded holiday-makers and of course the meals.
A must-visit is the rooftop bar where the mixologist will treat your tastebuds to a fantastic experience using local and superfood type ingredients for your fantastic cocktails/mocktails.

Amazing dinner - Edit
Incredible setting looking out over the ocean, with infinity pool right next to the restaurant and bar. Food was also amazing I've never experienced food presented so immaculately, and it all had just as impressive flavour. Would highly recommend for a special occasion or a last night of the holiday dinner!

The view while eating it was breath taking and the staff was super caring, friendly and professional.
We stayed in a tent, not just a tent but a luxurious tent, with an ocean view and a lot of space!
We also very much enjoyed our time in the gym and the yoga classes.
The surroundings are excellent for running too!
So all together a wonderful experience for us and our 2 kids (4 and 6). Thank you Kapuhala!!
Pros: Excellent food, Location, atmosphere
Cons: Many steps (as it is on a mountain), No access to ocean

Boutique resort and food experience - Edit
Both the Kapuhala resort and Halapua restaurant are immersive sensory experiences. The setting in the hills overlooking the sea is as stunning and relaxing as they come. The rooms are high quality with so every detail well thought out and the views are amazing. The gym is a fantastic open space where you can workout or enjoy a yoga session with an inspiring view. The food more than matches the setting with each dish taking you on a sensory journey. If you are planning to come to Koh Samui then I would highly recommend you unwind and recharge in this boutique paradise.

PROBABLY THE BEST FOOD ON KO SAMUI (VEGAN OR OTHERWISE). - Edit
As a long time vegan and someone who has been traveling on the Thailand islands for close to 20 years, I have come to expect very little when thinking about the food. While I was never going to starve (there was always fried rice or fruit or a Thai dish that could be easily veganised) it was always going to be a little repetitive (first world problems).
Read moreHowever, a stay at Kapuhala made me realize just how incredible vegan food can be on the islands of Thailand. This restaurant (also a 11 room hotel) is situated up the side of a hill with an incredible view overlooking the sea is a must-visit for just a meal or a drink if you are vegan or just someone looking to experience thoughtfully put together and innovative food options.
The restaurant and bar here is fully vegan and trying their best to make their food footprint as small as possible by using produce from their garden, reducing single-use plastics and paper as not having breakfast buffets to reduce food waste.
The food is priced and served in a way that is in keeping with the hotel. Expect very high quality, higher prices to a more hole in the wall establishment. I have to say that while I saw an opinion on a review that the portions were small, I respectfully disagree. The sizes were hearty and very satisfying.
The food features a vegan take on many dishes from all sorts of cuisines including Japanese, Italian, Tex Mex and so much more. Personally I loved the chef’s attempts at making delicious vegan cheeses (including delicious vegan queso which was on my hearty morning hash as well as their vegan cheese platter) and their menu items such as the chickpea pancake with mushrooms and kale.
I would recommend a visit for sure and while you might not take a vegan’s word when it comes to food I did overhear a non-vegan visitor compliment the chef and say that after the meal she had she had been researching and looking in eating more vegan food because her experience there was so delicious. She didn;t realise that vegan food could be so good.
The passion and enthusiasm by the whole Kapuhala team for this project is simply inspiring and you are sure to enjoy your experience whether for a stay or just for a meal or drink. Come for the food and stay for the view, hospitality and that incredible sea breeze.
Pros: Delicious and innovative food, Stunning view and it's quiet, Great service and vibe
Cons: Higher end prices - know before you go., Need transport to get there

Best plant based meals I've eaten - Edit
Absolutely beautiful location, food and setting! The food was incredible (as well as presentation), all plant based but my meat eater husband loved it and we left very full! Would highly recommend. If taking a taxi best to tell them its up the mountain first, some not willing to drive up. Otherwise scooter/motorbike up is best. Well worth it!

Lovely dining experience - Edit
Lovely dinner with my wife and parents. I recommend arriving a bit earlier to enjoy both sunset sky sipping a cocktail on the rooftop bar (try the Sempreverde!) as well as the lushy green surroundings. The staff was kind and professional, we truly appreciated the introduction offered when each plate was being served. Everything we tried on the menu was presented impeccably, ingredients were fresh and light (several ones come directly from the restaurant’s farm, which is literally next to it!).
Read morePersonal favorites(see pics): Umi No Kinoko as starter (king oyster mushrooms) and Sushi as main (sweet potato sushi rice). Indulge with the chocolate cake for dessert, a classic Mediterranean dish with Modica dark chocolate and Bronte Pistachio!

Game Changers experience - Edit
I started my plant based journey after watching "the Game Changers" and since then I started exploring options for the best places to have plant based food. I found Kapuhala resort and Halapua restaurant while looking for a sustainable resort able to offer fitness experience and amazing plant based food. Fitness and plant-based together is a very narrow category but we found this place that has a real meaning. The idea is to combine plant-based gourmet food with a fitness concept. People can enjoy yoga, fitness class and be also pampered in one of the best amazing restourant and mixology lounge ever seen. The pool is 25meter and this make a whole difference if you want to have a decent swim. We went there twice in this holiday, first for a swimming session followed by an amazing lunch on the terrace. We had 2 wraps - the Korean Kimi wrap and the Mediterranean wrap. We also went for the famous cheese platter with 10 kinds of plant based cheeses. Went back at night for dinner and boom: setting changed into a high level gourmet restaurant. We had 2 starters, 2 mains and 1 dessert to share. My highlight was lentils in papaya and mushroom garden. Dessert was good but we didn't enjoy as much as we got full before. We doggie bagged and got it home: chocolate cake with a raspberry egg yolk. I can't wait to be back in Samui and the great the team that made these meals a real impact in our vegan journey.

Delicious! - Edit
Fantastic vegan food. Highly recommended. 100% worth the price. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Professional vegan chef. Makes all the difference. We had a dip in the pool before our food arrived. Amazing view. Delicious food!! We had the vegan burger that was one of the best, if not the best, I’ve ever had. 3 non vegans also had the burgers and loved it. One even said that it was the best meal he had in Asia since arriving 4 months ago! We also had the jackfruit dish, the nachos, the Mediterranean wrap and the Korean Seitan dish. Everything was delicious! Unfortunately we didn’t have space to eat dessert. We had cocktails as well as a fruit shake with our meal. All professionally made. 100% the best vegan place in Koh Samui. Disappointing experience - Edit
I don't know really what to say but overal big big disappointment. Based on others reviews this restaurant is an oustanding experience, yes I agree. But taste-wise this was very unpleasant experience. We have tried Foie Gras, Umi no Kinoko, Tabbouleh, Mushroom Garden, Steak & Potato and Portobello. All items with quite nice presentation and great potential but with very little taste as per my experience.

"Kapuhala restaurant is Halapua, we randomly found it by going at Jungle club. We stepped there at 5pm and the rooftop mixology lounge just opened. We had cocktails with an extraordinary view and we were offered a fermented Daikon with saffron - it was mind blowing. We moved down for dinner and I had Uni No Kinoko Mushroom that taste like scallop, my friend got a whole cheese platter that we ended up sharing. This was one of the best meal ever had in a vegan restaurant and probably the only high class plant based experience in Asia"

Halapua is not just a restaurant but a unique experience and also the only Gourmet Plant based restaurant on the Island of Koh Samui. Early days, but starting strong! Can't wait to return for more. - Edit
It's early days for Kapuhala Koh Samui, but they've hit the ground running with a strong, unique residential experience in the tented villas, and a stunning plant-based restaurant that will challenge the conviction of even the most die-hard of meat-eating evangelists. We came for the menu and the chill, and spent much of our time between the pool and the rooftop cocktail bar, sampling the extensive range of liquid delights, but it was clear that anyone there for a training break or local sight-seeing would be fully accommodated. I think the biggest draw for us was the promise of being able to come away, without compromising on our plant-based diet, or our level of comfort or the quality of the host - something that often plagues us back in Hong Kong. One of our most enjoyable Christmas breaks of recent years. Can't wait to return - we've still more than half the menu to finish sampling!

Elegant, romantic setting with rooftop bar offering a variety of innovative cocktails, mixology at its best :)! Lovely View over the forest. Classy, minimalistic, stylish design throughout the restaurant and bar (and probably also resort). Carefully and thoughtfully selected small menu.creative presentation, flavourful and tasty dishes (although the sushi and blueberry cheesecake could do with a bit more flavour actually ;)) very customer friendly service!we chatted with the F&B manager and he introduced us to the chef - created a great atmosphere.

Amazing plant based food experience - Edit
Wow. The Halapua restaurant at Kapuhala has it all. Great view, amazing food (all plant based), mixolgy roof top lounge and great staff. I stayed here over Christmas and was amazed at the level of service and quality of food. I started my plant based diet only 2 months ago, so am new to all these tastes and textures. The executive chef, Greg, was happy to chat about his creations between courses, when he had a minute to pop out of the kitchen.
Read moreDay 1 - Breakfast - Ultimate breakfast Burrito, a tortilla containing beans, tofu scramble, roasted potato tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and sauce. Very very yummy, but a little too much for even me!
Dinner - Fromage frais appetiser, Portobello main, Mulled pear dessert. The portabello was my favorite of this meal. Perfect sized portions, which give you just a little more than you can conmfortably eat.
Day 2 - Breakfast - Hearty Skillet. Very similar to the burrito, but not quite so much of it and not in a tortilla. Served on a very hot plate. First thing I did when I got home was learn how to make tofu scramble!
Dinner - Gochudang Daikon appetiser - Bok Choy mash, braised dakon, apple😄Who knew you could make apple spaghetti! Red Rambo main - beetroot, quinoa, pomegranite - whats not to love. One of the desserts was not avaiable tonight, but thats ok, because it was replaced with coconut cake :)
Halapua has an extensive wine menu, a mixolgy (cocktail) menu, with all the classics, plus some very yummy new flavours, all beautifully presented. All the time spent on the rooftop, Tito, the F&B manager, was wandering around, chatting to clients, making sure they were well taken care of.
Would I go again........? A definate yes. There is still the rest of the menu to sample!!
Pros: Great food, Very attentive staff, Great view
Cons: Not enough time to finish the whole menu!!!, A bit too stuffed after the breakfast burrito
