Platos tradicionales (y no tanto) sin animales - Edit
Aquí se puede comer o cenar algo suave, o algo no tan suave (como callos a la madrileña, versión vegana). La comida es espectacular y la decoración del sitio es muy bonita y sin pretensiones.

Good not great - Edit
Ordered the Caesar salad and the tajin. Both were good but not amazing. Service and atmosphere were nice, so I would come back and try something else - lots of good looking things on the menu!

Great restaurant - Edit
I had gone there for the first time to order a Christmas menu for my sister and I many years ago, and the food was delicious. Went back today with a non-vegan friend who loved it and the quality of the food is still the same! Their vegan ensaladilla is a must!!

Delicious food, calm environment - Edit
Went here with my husband and in-laws, all vegan and my in-laws eat very clean at home (almost never eat at a restaurant). We all enjoyed separate dishes and a couple appetizers/salads and everyone was satisfied and thought the food was well-prepared and seasoned. The eggplant and hummus appetizer is a must-try, they do it just right. Even though the desserts looked delicious, we didn’t have any—we will go back to try them another time.

Good food, lovely service - Edit
I had the Ensalada Griego, Rioja, and an espresso. It all came super quickly with some fantastic olives. The waiter was friendly and spoke English perfectly. It’s a really cute restaurant.

okay paella - Edit
many typical options that i wished i tried but were out of my budget. just had the paella, it was just 1x and left me a bit hungry, because it was just rice and some mock calamares, and a bit of zucchini i guess? i wished it had some more veggies and more substance in general. was a lil underwhelming

Creative, Tasty Dessert - Edit
Hakuna Matata offers vegan Spanish staples and creative takes on international cuisine. We ordered the Asturian cachopo, carrilleras (Pork Cheek), The deconstructed Kinder Bueno, and the Chocolate Nonut Bomb. Although the savory food underwhelms, the dessert deserves recognition.
Read moreThe Asturian cachopo started wonderfully—it had a crispy exterior with a balance of tangy blue cheese and smoky ham inside. As I ate towards the center, the taste changed—it was strangely bitter and acidic. I almost had to stop eating it.The carrilleras (pork cheek) had a meatball texture with a profound red wine and beef taste. It was a serviceable plate—nothing special.
The desserts were different. The deconstructed Kinder Bueno was wonderful—A wafer straw filled with a hazelnut mouse and served with a chocolate ice cream scoop covered with a chocolate shell. Spooning any single element or any combination of elements was a fantastic treat. The Chocolate Nonut Bomb is a donut covered with chocolate served with mango ice cream. At the table, the waiter pours a coconut milk caramel on top. The donut reminded me of my home in Pennsylvania where German cuisine is popular: it’s soft and chewy, like a German Fasnacht.
Hakuna Matata takes chances with its expansive, creative menu; unfortunately, some offerings fall flat. Go for the dessert. They really have that figured out.

Tasty menu of veganised Spanish meals - Edit
We had the pastela which is a chicken parcel dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Not something we had heard of before but was really tasty. Also shared Patatas bravas (can’t go wrong) and calamari which came out hot and fresh. Friendly staff and nice restaurant. Would recommend

Real restaurant experience and great food - Edit
We came here twice and had a great time: the place is big and gives calm and cozy vibes. The menu is very big with Spanish dishes and everything is very tasty. The staff is professional. The white organic wine is very good. During Semana Santa, don't miss the torrija! The cheese plate is unique, especially if you are a cheese lover.

Sign on the door says open and the hours say open until 5pm. People inside eating, but they wouldn't serve me when I showed up at 4:15pm after walking 35 minutes to get there. Don't go out of your way.

Sabores tradicionales veganizados - Edit
Buen ambiente y personal amable y atento.

Everything was very tasty. We had the pastilla and it was gorgeous. Also the berenjenas were just as we had them in Andalucia. Desert was great. The food came quick (maybe a little too quick). Highly recommended.

Small portions, a bit pricey - Edit
Plenty of options but they don't change quite often. I ate beyond meat raviolis and my friend avocado tartar.
Read moreIf you compare it with so many excellent vegan places in Madrid, portion sizes are small here and it's a bit pricey for the quality. That's why I rated three stars.

Good food - Edit
A bit more upmarket than most vegan places in Madrid I went to but not fine dining. Had some good food - really liked the calamari and the croquettes. The Russian salad smelt quite eggy and the shrimps on top were very slimy but otherwise we liked it.
