Innovative cuisine

Make no mistake about it, at Hakkasan they know what they are doing. They have their Michelin star for a reason.
I went there a week and a half ago for Christmas Eve dinner. I was already asked at the reservation about dietary requirements as they wanted to be prepared. That's professional, I liked that.
Dining at Hakkasan was a smooth experience. The waiter was an excellent advisor. Both I and my company (who isn't vegan) felt in really good hands.
I had a tasty wild mushroom soup and an outstanding tofu, aubergine and mushroom dish, a true goody!
After still having some space in my stomach left I got the gyozas as well. Heavenly good!
Of cause it was expensive, but for a special occasion I'd gladly return.
However, if you're asked to be surprised with an alcoholic drink, be careful. I got an idea of the prices after studying the drinks menu (with very few exceptions under 100 dirhams). So when I was asked if I had a certain budget, I said no. In the end I got a drink for over 550 dirhams. It was very good, I can't deny that, and I wasn't mad about the price afterwards, because it was both a special occasion and a remarkable experience, but next time I'd be more cautious.
Due to the distinctive ambiance and the high prices not an option for everyone.

Vegan menu

Has a separate vegan menu with a few choices. Beware that note all mains are 'main dish' sized. Be sure to ask staff. One example was the white asparagus dish which was smaller than the vegetable gyozas (obviously a starter, and a must order). On the other hand, tofu aubergine dish was well sized and flavorful, good for one person if ordered with rice. Also happy to customize a vegan birthday dessert if requested in advance.

Pros: Vegan menu

Cons: Portion vs price can be exaggerated

Restaurant review

I think the food was good but it lacked that wow factor. I’m glad that I experienced it but I wouldn’t necessarily go back.

Pros: Vegan options available

Cons: Expensive

Wonderful restaurant with great ambience and delicious food

I enjoy my food each and every time I go. I had the vegetarian dim sum platter which was delicious and as well as a curry dish for mains. Gorgeous presentation, stunning setting, great service. I highly recommend visiting this place. Inform your waiter that you are vegan and they are more than willing to assist with recommendations and swaps.

Pros: ambience, food choice , staff

Cons: can be pricey
