Great gyoza! - Edit
I was so nervous we wouldn’t be able to have any gyoza since they are usually all meat, so when I saw this place on happy cow, I had to try! Food was great, and we got 3 different kinds to try (potato, tofu and cheese).

Long wait, but worth it - Edit
Had to wait for around 20 minutes outside and about 10 minutes for the food to arrive. Had the vegan tofu gyoza and the apple pie gyoza. Both were pretty satisfying although there were only 4 and 5 pieces of each dish respectively. Chilli oil and spicy miso seem to be vegan too, but I did not verify with the staff.

Authentic Japanese Dumplings - Edit
These were so good and cheap but beware, the portions sizes are very small so if you want a decent meal then this place isn't any cheaper than other vegan joints in Japan. I went alone but would be a good place to share dishes. Lots of vegetarian options but not as many vegan ones. Still worth a trip. There is often a long line outside!

Tasty gyoza - Edit
Tried gyoza with tofu and salad. It was delicious but the portions are very small. The remaining dishes were not available. The vegan menu is quite small. there are few tables, there is always a queue at the entrance.

More vegetarian than vegan options - Edit
Really enjoyed the vegan gyoza however only one type are available. The fried tofu is also lovely. There are lots more vegetarian options however these are pre made with mayo and or cheese so not able to be changed for vegans

So tasty - Edit
We tried to go there twice but there was always a long waiting line. We finally entered the third night and it was wonderful, very tasty food and kind service. Had a very good time. I particularly loved the mushroom risotto gyoza (not vegan but vegetarian!). Recommend!

Good choice for vegetarians but limited options for vegans - Edit
It’s in the downtown and opens till late (11pm), so if you are a vegan/vegetarian and wanna grab some local food at night, it’s one of the option.
Read moreThe place was very busy and the staff was very friendly. The most impressive thing is that they have a “no meat menu” of gyoza and sides and have marked the dairy products in the dish if there is any.
I would say it’s a pretty vegetarian friendly place with 5 choices of gyoza available. However, there is only one type of gyoza for vegans which is tofu wrapped in yuba (soymilk skin), so it means you are not having the traditional style of Gyoza. I’m really confused, is it really that difficult to make gyoza with only veggies as fillings ???? I have tried quite a few place of gyoza in jp but haven’t found the taste I’m thinking of.
Anyway, the draft beer, side dishes ( I ordered the bean sprouts salad and it tasted pretty good! Good for beer) and yuba gyoza all tasted very good. I didn’t think of soymilk skin and tofu can make such interesting gyoza before. I ordered another two portions after I tried the first one.
But I really need to point out that the vegetarian options are far more expensive than traditional gyoza. For example, I found that the most popular pork gyoza costed only 600 yen for 12 pieces, but the vegan yuba gyoza costed 430 yen for only 4.... so I have to pay much more than meat eaters. I might understand the reason for high price but I still feel a bit unhappy about that.
After all I had a pretty good time having my supper here. I hope my review and photos can help other vegans traveling in Kyoto :)
Oh by the way, there is also a chocolate banana gyoza as dessert for vegans, but I didn’t feel like having sweet stuff then so I didn’t order it.
I might score this place 3.5.
It’s a good place to chill at late night for vegans in this area ( considering most vegan place in Kyoto close very early like 8pm) I might go there if I hangout late in this area. The vibe in the place is pretty good. I only wish the vegan options could be more various and the price could go down a bit.
Pros: vegan/vegetarian menu (a few gyoza and sides), Dairy products marked clearly., Lovely staff and accept unionpay
Cons: Expensive (especially compared with meat menu), Limited options (especially for vegans)

Delicious with nice staff - Edit
Place was well visited when we were there. I had two types of Gyoza, fried tofu and a coke as a set for 1400 yen (without tax), and chocolate gyoza as dessert. The staff was very friendly. The food itself was very tasty, however it is quite expensive as the price tags are only without tax.

Vegan options are clearly indicated on the menu. Only one vegan gyoza but several sides to fill up on.
There was a line when we arrived but overall it was a short wait.
Pros: Friendly and knowledgeable staff., Great for a mixed group, Vegan dessert gyoza
Cons: Just one savory vegan gyoza

Delish - Edit
Am not allowed to make it 5 stars as they serve meat too. Large choice for veggies, not as much for vegans but well worth a visit. The veggie menu is separate. Staff are a delight. You’ll get gyoza you won’t get anywhere else. Have the banana and chocolate gyoza! Yum!

Best gyozas ever and they have a seperate vegetarian menu. Loved it! Try the chocolate filled ones, they’re awesome. Make sure to reserve a table or allow some extra time as it’s very popular.

Cons: Bruyant , Attente parfois longue

Great atmosphere - Edit
Veggie options were good. Nice staff and delicious beer. However the veggie options are a different style of Gyoza. The pork/shrimp Gyoza are fried and look delicious. Unfortunately they use pork oil to fry them. It would be great if they had veggie fried Gyoza. So actually you are not getting the original fried style Gyoza here.
