Oriental Vegetarian (Allium-free) - Edit
Serves Oriental Vegetarian options and you can request takeout.
Read moreReally enjoyed the cheese shiso (Perilla) but the portion was rather small. Shibazuke gyoza was really sour and not to our liking, should have ordered the mashed potato gyoza instead~

Great Find - Edit
We googled “vegan” after getting off the train in Kyoto and finding that the soba restaurant we planned to eat at was closed. This was nearby and fit the bill with vegan and vegetarian options. The ladies there were so kind and helpful and patiently helped me practice my Japanese. There’s an English menu and everything is clearly marked. If you’re very hungry, you may want to add some rice as gyoza 🥟 are obviously not very filling, especially if you are used to eating a lot of veggies/grains. It was an excellent welcome to Kyoto though!

Pretty weak - Edit
Clear vegan options which was nice. Staff were friendly. Our gyoza tasted a bit like eggs and had little flavour. We tried all vegan options on the menu and found all to be weak in flavour. Noticed the meat gyoza were crispy and fried to look appetising but ours were super soggy and limp. Would not recommend unfortunately.

Nice gyoza - Edit
The gyoza here are nice but the women working here are what makes it special. They’re so kind. When I was here 3 years ago, they also had apple gyoza (sweet). Sadly that’s off the menu it seems.

Great place! - Edit
Cool atmosphere where can sit at the counter and watch them make it. Good amount of vegan options. Although, the salad does come with a soft egg so be sure to ask for it without.

New menu - no vegan gyoza’s anymore - Edit
Was excited to visit, the staff were really sweet but after we ordered a beer unfortunately they let us know that they have a new menu without vegan options (our bad we should have checked before) - only one with cheese - super kind people working there though

Good gyoza and nice atmosphere - Edit
Make sure you ask for the vegan menu since the special gyoza are not on the usual one. The staff was really kind and nice, the gyoza had some unique flavors that I never had before in Japan. They take reservations and I recommend you do that since the first time we tried to go they were full.

Great snack - Edit
First of all, they only have one vegan option (yuba wrapped cabbage gyoza), so if you're coming here for lunch/dinner, probably you'll stay hungry. However, the portion sizes (4 small ones) make it perfect for a quick snack. Wrapping it into yuba instead of flour-wrapper gives it an interesting texture.

Vegan Gyoza great for Lunch! - Edit
Went here for lunch. Had some gyoza and salad. Set menu for 1500 and includes one alcoholic drink. Tasty and affordable in Kyoto. Recommended!

Disappointing - Edit
There's only one vegan option and a few vegetarian options. The vegan gyozas aren't that great; they don't have much flavour.

No vegetarian menu/options at higashiyama-ku branch - Edit
We visited on 25/6 and asked for the vegetarian menu as reported on happy cow but he was confused and said there was none and vegetarian food was difficult to make so I think they have no options.

Ok gyoza - Edit
Had some vegan options which was great. Would have preferred to have a veggie gyoza in a regular gyoza wrapper instead of tofu skin. Don’t enjoy tofu skin but I thought maybe as it’s pan seared it would be different but I find tofu skin quite rubbery. It was still good to try but probably won’t return.

Happy to find vegan gyoza - Edit
While I was happy to finally end upon some vegan gyoza in Japan, they were not really that special. I wouldn't say that it didn't taste well but it was also nothing out of the ordinary.
Read moreI also got myself some deep fried Tofu and fries - for which goes the same. But of course, you don't go to Japan for the fries so that was not a problem. However, in general the portion sizes were small. Therefore I am not totally sure about the price.
You may try it. I believe that some people may really really like the Yuba/gyoza, but for me that wasn't it.

Fun to try Yuba gyoza ! - Edit
The atmosphere in this place was great. Like an izakaya. Not too many vegan options but tasty. I had the yuba gyoza, fried tofu, fries and at the end the waitress said the dessert gyoza was also vegan. This isn’t wrote on the menu (so I hope it was lol). Got the apple pie dessert gyoza and it was delicious. Despite eating a lot of various things, it was kind of hard to feel full. Small portions and maybe Yuba isn’t very filling but - worth going!

Very tasty but very few vegan options - Edit
While the gyoza and fried tofu I has was very good I was disappointed that there is only 1 vegan gyoza option and it's very tiny. Please look at all the photos - scroll to the end for most updated menu. There was no dessert gyoza either sadly. Vegetarians will have more choice.

Great gyoza! - Edit
I was so nervous we wouldn’t be able to have any gyoza since they are usually all meat, so when I saw this place on happy cow, I had to try! Food was great, and we got 3 different kinds to try (potato, tofu and cheese).

Long wait, but worth it - Edit
Had to wait for around 20 minutes outside and about 10 minutes for the food to arrive. Had the vegan tofu gyoza and the apple pie gyoza. Both were pretty satisfying although there were only 4 and 5 pieces of each dish respectively. Chilli oil and spicy miso seem to be vegan too, but I did not verify with the staff.
