Affordable homely food that doesn’t skimp on quality

Excellent value Macao/Portuguese food - big portions, and lots of flavor. Didn’t seem to have an English menu or a menu with photos, so recommend going with someone who can read and speak Chinese. My Macao local friend went for the first time and thought it was one of the best restaurants they’d been to in Macao, vegetarian or not, for the value and the fact that it doesn’t skimp on quality but loads each dish with lots of ingredients.

Edit: visited again in November 2024 - they now have an excellent English menu!

Good portions and really interesting food

There's a full English menu, I've uploaded the front page but forgot to take a photo of the back - which was noodles, rice dishes and dessert. We were able to walk in and I think due to the size of our bill we had to pay in cash, there seemed to be an upper limit.

Pros: Friendly service, Interesting local menu (with English), Able to takeaway as well

Cons: Slightly hard to find on Google maps, Very little English spoken

Unique Vegetarian Portuguese Dishes

This is probably the only veg eatery in macau offering Macanese- Portuguese local fusion dishes such as mo-luo chicken rice, African chicken, veggies in Portuguese gravy etc. Generous portion and flavorful food! Pls note that eggs are served her, inform the staff if you are vegan.

Pros: Generous portion , Unique dishes

Cons: Simple old interior

Weird food

Got soup of the day and an African curry. Both had a severe lack of salt and both were painfully sweet.
Since I speak neither Chinese nor Portuguese, I had no way of conveying this to the waiter/server. Also, the coconut flavour was something I simply did not anticipate as I was thinking I would be getting a spicy dish.

Pros: English menu, Cheap, Huge portions

Cons: Too many options, Too much mock meat

delicious vegetarian Macanese-Portuguese food

Traditionally, local Macanese-Portuguese food in Macau is very meat heavy and not suitable for vegetarians. This little restaurant gives a good taste of the local food, as they serve a large variety of Portuguese food, all of which have been vegetarianised with mock meats.

We ordered the African chicken curry, and assorted mock meats baked in tomato sauce over rice. The food was flavourful and realistic (recalling from the non-veg version I ate when I was younger) and the portions are decently large so it's good for sharing. Staff are kind too.

Pros: Good food, Good menu, Inexpensive

Cons: A bit greasy, Heavy on mock meat

vegetarian portuguese dishes

they are the only vegetarian eatery in macau that offers portuguese influenced macanese food. don't let their basic interior deceive u, their food is good and comes in big portions. try their africa chicken (spicy curry with soy chicken), veg in portuguese gravy, portuguese mo luo chicken rice and salt n pepper fried monkeyhead mushroom. daily soup brewed for hours is full of flavor.

Pros: small restaurant, may have to wait if crowded, big portion

Cons: serves brown rice
