Fab food and coffee - Edit
The food here is amazing - all high quality and presented beautifully. Good food that just happens to be vegan! This time we had a grilled cheese sandwich with spinach and pesto, and pancakes with blueberries and yoghurt. Their coffee is lovely and they have a selection of super food lattes as well.

Best place to eat out in Doncaster - Edit
Absolutely love this place and it’s always my first choice when going out for lunch or even just a coffee and cake in Doncaster.
Read moreI can’t say enough about it and I think my family get fed up of me raving about it… hehe!
Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and to top it off the food is always delicious and beautifully presented.
They have a great selection of cake’s to choose from, I’m normally too full to have a meal and cake while there… but normally take one home for later 😆
I’ve been to Grind House many times since they opened and never had anything to complain about, I can’t say enough good things about it 🥰
Pros: The menu has a good selection to choose from., Cozy and very friendly Atmosphere , Best iced latte I’ve EVER had!

Awesome coffee - Edit
This is by far my absolute favourite place to go in Doncaster. Their coffee is second to none. They have extensive knowledge and truly excel as Baristas………Oh and the food is also amazing, their full English breakfast is my go to every time ( I am a creature of habit 😂). My wife always tries something different and has always been happy with everything she’s tried.

Look for the Gentleman’s Retreat - Edit
Walking down the picturesque alleyway keep your eyes out for the Gentleman’s Retreat, find that and you’ve found the Grind House. Everywhere inside is a riot of green plants. Very cosy interior. The toilets are on the ground floor. Lovely menu. Will add comments about the food later as I’m writing this late March and we visited mid-Feb. I need to find my pics! However I can say, we loved it and will be back.

Grind House - Edit
I’ve wanted to visit since it first opened but I’m not in the area that often, though I was flying out from the nearby airport and managed to finally pop in for lunch. This is a small ground level cafe off the high street down a pleasant little alleyway. I was initially confused as the signage said ‘The Gentleman’s Retreat’ but the A board outside on the pavement indicated we’d found the right spot. The building facade is very pretty and the interior decoration spectacularly unique. Very quirky features and I’m sure there is no other place quite like it.
Read moreI opted for avocado on toast and added some vegan halloumi. This was no ordinary avo toast! It had chilli houmous spread on the toast and crispy onions garnishing the top. Full of flavour and different textures, I’d happily eat this daily! The coffee was very good quality. I also took away a sandwich and cake for my flight, both were delicious and held up well after several hours of travelling. There is a wait for food, it’s cooked fresh and to order which shows in the standard.
Car parking available off the main high street, pay and display.

Delicious! - Edit
Great little cafe offering lots of options! Hubby settled for the full English and I went for a hummus and toasted red pepper sandwich, both of which were great! The coffee was delicious as were the cakes, although be warned, we went quite late in the day so a couple of the options had sold out (sign of a good cake, haha). Will definitely be visiting again😄

Such an amazing place. The staff are amazing and the decor is beautiful. There is also a cute little courtyard to eat outside. The food is just amazing. I have been twice and had something different each time. I was definitely not disappointed. I know it will become a favourite place for me and my husband to eat out at.

Beautifully decorated space, which transports you into an amazing place to eat.
Read moreWe sat inside, although there is a lovely outdoor secluded courtyard too.
I could have eaten everything in the menu- however we had:
Iced Lattes
Jalapeño grilled cheese sandwich
Sweet chilli vegan halloumi & roast pepper sandwich
All were divine.
I also bought a Black Forest cinnamon bun to take away. It was enormous, delicious, fruity, chocolately, indulgent!!
We diverted off the motorway to visit. I’m so glad we did-well worth the trip!
Pros: Beautiful surroundings, Dog friendly, Friendly staff

Best Plant Based Breakfast - Edit
With the menu being 100% plant based you are spoilt for choice. The Full English Breakfast is the BEST around, freshly cooked (so a little longer wait time) but its well presented with lots of different items and a good size portion. You can also swap out items if you there's anything you don't like.
Read moreThe coffee tastes amazing, comes with oat milk as standard but there's also pea milk (which is lovely and smooth).

My absolute fave place to go. I even took my omni husband for his birthday. He is a typical Yorkshire man and pretty critical. He loved it, complimented the food and went back for a second coffee as he enjoyed it that much. He's been again since too.
Thank you guys. Your awesome 👌 💚

Our new favourite place - Edit
Beautifully decorated café tucked away from high street. The food is divine and wonderfully presented. The coffee is the best in town. The service is warm and friendly. Did I mention that it’s a plant based restaurant with good gluten free options too? Bonus!! Decadent moist rich pancakes. Traditional English Breakfast. Smashing avocado toast. It’s our new favourite place.

Superb Sandwiches - Edit
We had a ‘BLT’ and a ‘Halloumi and Roasted Pepper sandwich’, both of which were excellent. They tasted great and were very well presented (see photos).
Read moreCoffee was very good as was the ‘lumberjack’ for dessert.
Prices were a little more than an average café (for the food at least) but the quality and service more than made up for this.
Only very minor gripe is the limited seating outside (only two tables we saw) so on a sunny day you may have to sit inside.
Pros: Excellent quality , Very friendly staff
Cons: Only two tables outdoors

Lovely place, but mixed results - Edit
Lots of choice for vegans, and the full English breakfast was lovely. Also great coffee However my non-vegan partner ordered pancakes, and they were pretty dry, he was not impressed. We also had a very long wait for food, we were warned after about 15 minutes and nearly cancelled our order, but food did arrive when promised. Decor is lovely, note it is hard to spot this place on a side alley.

Hi thanks for your honest review on visiting our hidden coffeeshop, sorry about your food wait, everything is cooked from scratch in our peitie kitchen, which means a little longer for food. We aim to have all food out to customers within 30minutes which we think for fresh food is acceptable. If we pre cooked our food we couls get the wait time within around 10 minutes but the flavours would be compromised which would affect the quality of the food served.
Read moreFor the pancakes we can only apologies. If requested we can always supply additional maple syrup. We do find that plant based pancakes tend to be slightly more crumbly in texture.

Amazing food and incredible atmosphere - Edit
After visiting for a vegan breakfast and being really impressed with the quality of food, service and general atmosphere I was so excited to manage to get a place at one of their bistro nights and it did not disappoint! The restaurant was beautifully decorated with such a high level of detail. The five course menu was perfection! The portion sizes were great, the food was some of the tastiest I’ve eaten. Thr gazpacho soup was a particular favourite. but the vegan chocolate torte was also a masterpiece. One of our group said they didn’t like mushrooms before the meal but said the mushroom platter was their favourite course it was so tasty.
Read moreThe staff were attentive without being overbearing and the night passed in a fit of good food, great wine and lots of chat. The vocalist they had playing added an extra special element and created a really relaxing atmosphere.
I would highly recommend. Worth every penny and we will definitely be looking out for future events here to attend.
