A great addition to Ferndale. Great atmosphere. I would definitely take a date. Tall tables, regular tables and couches. Good energy. Cheese plate is a terrific starter. Mac was classic. Salad wasgood and my favorite was the black bean.... cheese cake was delicious.

My husband and I have been wanting to try GreenSpace for awhile but it isn't super close to where we live so we haven't gone until tonight. I had read reviews and was a little apprehensive, hearing bad service stories and some great food, some bad. We had a fabulous experience! Great service and everything we had was wonderful. We tried the cheese board, wine, a side garden salad and my husband got a tempeh sandwich. Everything was fantastic! We will be back😄 Wish it was closer to our home :)

Horrible Service - Edit
The food was delicious but the service was terrible. We waited almost an hour between our appetizer and our main course. Our waitress actually came by and asked if we were ready for dessert when we hadn’t even gotten our food yet. I ended up having to go up to the bar to pay our check because she never checked on us after that. I’m not sure we’ll be going back after our experience.

Potential - Edit
Went with a few friends today for lunch, and we were all excited about going. The service was unenthusiastic, but not horrible. That being said, they got a few things wrong from our order. The food was hit or miss. Some of it was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and artistically arranged. Some of it was bland, dry, and down right awful (coleslaw)! With some attention to detail, and better attitude, this place could be five stars.

I love everything about GreenSpace. Their food is excellent and they provide helpful labels for which items are soy-free, nut-free, gluten-free, oil-free, and others. I wish there were more locations!

Not impressed - Edit
I'm surprised by how amazing the reviews for this place are. My boyfriend and I both thought this place was nothing special. We had jackfruit tacos, pizza, and ice cream and it was all decent but nothing was that great. Definitely not worth the high price. The "sausage" on the pizza was good but there was hardly any cashew cheese on it and the ice cream was a big let down.

The food was delicious from start to finish. We got alcoholic Kombucha followed by the Salsicce flatbread and Forest Mushroom Gnocchi (w/ Seitan). We ate everything AND ordered ice cream cookie sandwich. Great environment, great service, great food!

ALL Vegan & DELICIOUS - Edit
This is my favorite restaurant! It is a completely vegan menu with delicious craft cocktails. The menu is always rotating and seasonal. I love that it is owned by a cardiologist and his family because you know that he cares about what goes into his customers bodies. Their brunch is creative and delicious. Desserts are mouthwatering and beautiful. I love that they have outdoor seating options.

We have been here multiple times and there are still menu items we want to try! I had the broccoli potato soup and caesar salad and the cajun tempe sandwich. We loved that so much, they made us more tempe to go! This is not far from DTW or Detroit DT proper and worth the drive :)

One of the best restaurants ANYWHERE - Edit
We were in Detroit for a friend's wedding and drove all the way form Rochester, NY. We had met Joel Kahn before, so we made sure to visit Greenspace as son as we got to town. He wasn't there that evening, but his wife Karen was so we had a nice chat with her. She was very friendly and came back to our table a number of times to make sure everything went well.
Read moreWe had a great meal! We started off with the creamiest mushroom soup. It had a lot of mushrooms, but also some really interesting herbal flavors that were perfectly balanced.
I had the Jackfruit Torillas which were flavorful and wonderfully prepared. The real star of the night were the Gnocchi. They were served with mushrooms and greens. A lot of times gnocchi are either too heavy or too gummy. These were firm, but very light .
For dessert we had the Mint Chip ice cream which was great, but the "Bumpy Cake" was a treat. Apparently, Bumpy Cake is a Detroit specialty originated by Sanders Candy. This was a vegan replica which was a sweet, delicious treat. (We brought some home to our neighbor in Rochester, NY who said it was like getting her childhood in a bag!)
The restaurant is beautiful and very big. We were there on a Wednesday evening and there were a lot of people there so if you are going on a weekend, you should be sure to make a reservation.
{A postscript: Karen Kahn said they would be in Portland the following week to go to the VegFest. We told her that our daughter was coming down from Seattle to go to VegFest, too. Our daughter came up to her and asked "Are you Karen?" . Karen looked at her and said "You must be Julia!". What nice folks!}

OUTSTANDING! - Edit
We live in Toledo, and unfortunately there aren't many vegan dining options in our area. We decided to drive up to GreenSpace Cafe to celebrate my birthday. It was worth every mile we spent in the car! We had one of the best meals we've ever had, vegan or otherwise. The ambiance was incredible, the service was top notch, and the food...we're still daydreaming about it. We will DEFINITELY be going back. What an amazing place!
