Greenies is wonderful.
We are so very lucky to have Greenies in Darwin.
I know many people that are so very grateful.
They keep it real.
Community minded, conscious, humble and friendly.
Greenies have such a range of produce and products.
Their vegies and fruit are the best.
If you are omnivore, carnivore, herbivore, gluten free, love gluten, super food enthusiast, fair trade minded, local produce supporter or just a generally lovely person you too will adore this most excellent store.
A beautiful family run community minded business - Edit
Greenies Real Food is an amazing organic shop, it's the only organic shop in Darwin and really is a one stop shop. Their products are very well priced considering that the freight charges to Darwin and the fresh produce is actually cheaper than what I see when I go down south. They really support only having REAL whole food so they stock very minimum processed soy vegan alternatives, but you can get most of these at the big supermarkets. A wide variety of the products however are vegan friendly including their delicious organic coconut ice cream, coconut yoghurt, biscuits, chips, dips etc just take your time to browse the shop. The shop caters for the whole community and every ones needs so they do stock frozen meat. They have a wide range of fresh organic produce, bulk dry goods, grocery items, personal care, cleaning products, everything you could need. I would highly recommend this lovely community minded shop and the beautiful vibes and energy it has. :o)
Other than a few dairy free items, and toiletry lines most of the items can be found in supermarkets. The place has 3 large freezers devoted to organic meat and one tiny one for other frozen items with about 3 frozen veg items which can be bought cheaper at supermarkets - so it is not terribly vegetarian friendly. Yes they have hummus and tofu and some organic vegies, but you can can find those items at supermarkets these days. When I saw a sign on the store window saying "rabbits for sale - for pets or to eat" it confirmed to me this was not a place for vegans.
