Next Update: way better now - Edit
They changed the menu yet another time. That’s an enormous improvement from the 2021/22 period, though not quite as good as in the old days. Try the vegan Phad Thai.
Read moreMy former 2 Star review:
Sadly, they changed there menu at some point in 2021. At the beginning of this period, there were hardly any vegan options, you had to ask for more. Now, they have many vegan options again.
But still: less exotic ingredients, lower quality, more expensive. I still love the staff, but I‘d like to ask the person who runs the place: Why on earth did you do this? Don’t get me wrong, it’s ok, I still go there from time to time, but it’s a vast decline.
My First four star review:
Fresh and tasty Thai food. Spicy glass noodles with extra fried tofu is my favorite. I go there very often and have never been disappointed. Great place for a quick lunch or for a dinner before some event nearby. If you are looking for a charming place to sit and talk for hours and hours, you should probably go somewhere else. The interior is ok though.

Ok as a fall back option - Edit
We couldn’t get a table at Ong Tao and decided to try Green Thai. They have a few vegan options, so that it is okay if you don’t plan to eat there every day. The food tastes okay, however, I would not go there on purpose.

Keine Auswahl - Edit

Fraud - Edit
The Peanut Curry is the ONLY vegan Option available. All other dishes are made with fish sauce. The Sauce CAN'T be canceled!
Read moreThe menu is misleading. It is disappointing that vegans seem to be deliberately deceived.

One vegan curry - Edit
They have one vegan curry in the menu which is the peanut curry. It's delicious with some extra protein like sesame tofu.

Surprisingly good - Edit
This restaurant looks like a cheap chain restaurant but actually offers some decent Thai food and labels many of the dishes as vegan (which is also not standard for Thai places, where there is often fish sauce or prawn paste hidden in some dishes).
Read morePrices are good given the area (city centre of Frankfurt = expensive).
Pros: Decent vegan Thai food, Good prices, Central location
Cons: Not the greatest atmosphere

Super tasty Thai food - Edit
I went there with a friend to get some Thai curry and had a great surprise. I was a bit afraid because there was no review about it at Happy Cow, so I didn’t really knew what to expect. There’s several options of vegan food at the menu, the food was super tasty and the portions were huge. The price was okay, service was good although a bit slow sometimes cause they were really busy.
Read moreThe only thing that concerned me is that I asked if it was possible to make the green Thai curry vegan, as it was only labeled as vegetarian and the waitress told me I should just order it without fish sauce. I just wonder if the vegetarian dishes there might have fish or fish sauce and they still call it vegetarian or if she just didn’t really got what I meant.

I planned to travel to Thailand last year and I heard that the Thai definition of "vegetarian" differs from the common definition. Thai vegetarians don't eat meat, chicken or fish but they don't have problems with sauces made from animals. So sauces in vegetarian Thai dishes often include fish powder. It's disturbing if also German thai restaurants use fish powder. If you go to that restaurant again you should clarify that fish powder is not acceptable for vegetarian/vegan dishes in our culture area.
