The place to go for vegan Indian food - Edit
Green Mushroom is one of the very best in Newtown (originally in Glebe) and has an extensive menu of well-known and popular Indian dishes. The vibe is awesome and the food is of excellent quality and flavour. I went to its grand opening several years ago and have been a huge fan ever since. It’s well-worth a visit.

Awesome vegan Indian food, a bit pricy - Edit
I’ve been here many times as I live very close. I’d be here a lot more often if it were a bit cheaper, but it is super great to have a tasty vegan Indian spot so close to home😄

A gem! - Edit
I don’t come across fully vegan Indian restaurants often, so I was excited to dine here. I ordered the tandoori tofu, garlic naan, and lamb roganjosh. The naan was so good I could of eaten it by itself. The roganjosh was fantastic. Full of flavor. The tofu came out sizzling which was a great. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to friends. #Veganuary

There are a lot of options if you avoid onion and garlic. Tofu signature was so good. And amazing vegan cheese naan.

All-vegan Indian paradise - Edit
I absolutely love Indian food and as a result can't get enough of Green Mushroom, the only (to my knowledge) vegan Indian restaurant in Sydney. I've enjoyed every dish I've had here, with my favourites probably being the lamb vindaloo and any of the dahls, and am determined to eventually eat my way through the entire menu. In addition to the curries there's a fantastic and extensive selection of sides. One of my top suggestions for anyone dining in Sydney.

Would recommend the vegan cheese naan, the butter chicken and the mango lassi! Also liked the lamb roganosh. Service wasn’t great, had to keep trying to grab waiter’s attention despite not being crazy busy. But still enjoyed.

Having heard about this restaurant in Tokyo whilst chatting in a bar to some Australians, we thought it was worth a visit. It was great. Really tasty food served with love and attention, a bit spicy for us, so be warned! Definitely worth a trip and we highly recommend the butter chick'n.

At lunch, they have a separate menu with 2 dishes, naan, and rice for less than $20. Both our meals were delicious and generous. We separately ordered Pani Puri, so very nice. The naan was spectacular.

The Green Mushroom is fantastic. Dedicated Indian vegan, reasonably priced and BYO. A miracle in these times of overpriced meat-focused restaurants. Enjoy. Support. Fall in love.

Best Indian Restaurant Ever!!! - Edit
Awesome, awesome awesome! AWESOME!!! Loveliest staff ever. Constant smiles, best food and super quick meal making (food ready within 10mins of ordering). The whole menu is vegan and there's a massive range! Not just your basic curries with tofu instead of chicken, there was EVERYTHING that a non-vegan 5 star indian restaurant would have. Lots of different curries, naans, different entrees including real-tasting vegan prawns (as reviewed by my carnivorous associate). Yum, yum, yum! A must go if you are in town. Ideally with a group of people so that you can try lots from their extensive, delicious menu. Go there. Now.

Tasty little thing, but a bit saucy - Edit
I hadn’t been to Green Mushroom since my underwhelming experience in Glebe in 2016. The new bigger space looked impressive on this visit, and the menu had expanded slightly. We ordered mushroom pakoras and roadside aloo tikki to start. Neither were amazing, and the pakoras seemed a bit microwaved, with the batter chewy and soft rather than crisp. I enjoyed both the butter chicken and the fish masala, which seemed to be new dishes and delighted in eating them with garlic naan, not widely available in vegan versions. They were tasty and substantial, but unfortunately - particularly the chicken dish - drowning in sauce. We left practically half the contents of the serving bowl because there was so much of it. That said, the dinner was overall delicious and I look forward to trying more of the large menu.

Went with some friends so we got to try a number of dishes and loved them all. Such a great variety of tastes and options. They can also dial up and down the spice level to suit everyones preferences. And the chai is divine.

The food alone deserves 5 stars but there were a couple of let downs.

Would have been a really great experience if it wasn’t for the terrible service and the vibe was really lacking. I noticed a lot of people getting Uber eats. Probably a better way to eat food from here.
Pros: AMAZING food 👌👌👌👌
Cons: Pricey, Terrible service
