Good but not quite superb. - Edit
I've had superb viet fusion cuisine, white lotus (now closed) in san jose, golden era in sf, golden lotus in oakland. I am spoiled. None of the dishes I have tried so far at green lotus tasted quite as superb. Also beware the small red peppers, I thought I liked spicy but have been humbled.

The food was fresh, hit when needed to be, presented very well, generous portions, and fairly priced. The menu is extensive. The food was awesome!

Delicious food presented well - Edit
Glad I found this place while in San Jose. Best spring rolls ever! Spicy noodle soup was excellent (not really very spicy though - I added some hot sauce). Wish I could have tried more things!

Great Vietnamese food - Edit
The food is absolutely great, we loved all dishes we ordered. Service is slow, and appetizers came out with main dishes. The restaurant is not fully vegan but vegan dishes are clearly marked.

Great Vietnamese Vegan - Edit
Green Lotus is a must-try vegetarian/vegan spot in San Jose. I decided to try this second location on Story since I always frequent the one on Business Circle. After my experiences, I have to say that I prefer the other location more mostly due to service, but it can be overlooked with the similar food offerings.
Read moreMy friends and I all split the following gems:
- Crispy Oyster Mushrooms - A definite must if you enjoy anything deep-fried. I let go of my whole foods diet just for these because they are so yummy. If you don't particularly enjoy mushrooms, you may change your mind after these calamari-esque treats. Wonderful homemade tamarind sauce is accompanied with these bad boys.
- Claypot Pork - A saucy 'pork' dish that goes well over rice. The texture was amazing and it really did resemble stewed pork even down to the fatty parts.
- Hot Pot Sweet & Sour - This huge hot pot set has more food than meets the eye. It's meant for 2 or more people to share and is a great deal for plant based hot pot goers that want something more worthwhile while their friends consume meat. Great variety of mock meats, tofu, and some vegetables. With that said, I was surprised this set did not come up with a variety of fresh vegetables as other hot pot sets had, such as the mushroom set. Those veggies make hot pot for me so I was a bit disappointed considering this was only $1 more than the later.
Service here was decent but I felt it could have been a lot better. It was difficult asking for water refills and they rarely checked up on us throughout our meal. We managed to survive but with the food being hot (not spicy), it was invaluable to have water readily available.
Pros: Great value, Extensive vegan Asian menu
Cons: Slow service

Yellow Curry Take Out - Edit
I found the yellow curry had stiff tofu and the vegetables were pumpkin and potatoes. Yellow curry from Thai restaurants is generally excellent. It was disappointing.

Lack of vegetables - Edit
The menu is loaded with tofu and mock meats, but has very little vegetables. The exception was curries, but those had whole milk and we were told couldn't be made vegan. We ordered a soup that had two pieces of carrot, two pieces of broccoli and a mountain of noodles, tofu and mock meat.

Huge menu, almost all vegan, all good - Edit
This is one of our favorite places to eat in San Jose and a great place to go as a group. Everyone we've brought here loved it. The menu can be overwhelming, but in the exciting way of having way more vegan options than normal. Staff is very nice and service is quick.
Read moreFavorites we order again and again:
Banana flower salad
Green lotus eggrolls (vegan, amazing crispy things filled with something delicious and soft, served with lettuce leaves and mint to wrap them in, really worth trying)
Pho
Tofu dumpling soup

Popular Spot - Edit
We visited this for lunch on a Monday. It is in a small strip mall area.
Read moreIt was packed. We were lucky to find a parking spot. We had ordered to go.
We were advised they no longer offer the french bread with the stew but have rice noodles for vegans. The other noodles are egg noodles.
Beef stew: Really great flavor, we definitely recommend. It is brothey like a pho so we recommend getting noodles, they are $1.00.
Crispy Tofu: Really delicious. The tofu has a great texture, the crispy breading is delicious and the sauce is nice also.
Even though it was busy, the staff were friendly and prompt. We appreciated that the individual repeated our order when we called in.
Parking: there is a large lot with several shops and several parking spaces however it gets quite busy.
Overall it's a great spot. Several options, flavorful and a decent price.

Amazing find! - Edit
Everything was pleasantly delicious! Will definitely come back and can’t wait to try all the vegan items on the menu. They weren’t serving the papaya or pomelo salads but we had the lotus root salad (I’ve never had that before) and it was awesome.

What a delight to stumble across this top quality fusion cuisine, only open for a few months now. The setting is modest, but the food is over-the-top delicious. Every dish is a surprising mix of various Asian and other styles. Superb!
