Plenty of Vegan Options, but food was disappointing - Edit
I came to visit San Jose and was excited to see there was a vegetarian/vegan Asian place in the neighborhood. I ordered a whole bunch of food because I'm going to be here for a few days and I figured that leftovers would be welcome. Everything I got was not quite how I had hoped. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls was too salty. The egg roles and the specialty fried rolls were both mediocre; the flavor combination with the vegan fish sauce was also fine but both special. It's possible it was just an off night, but I don't imagine I'll come back to find out.
Read morePros: lots of vegan options , big portions
Cons: flavor of the food , texture of the egg rolls

Vietnamese in San Jose - Edit
I've been here many times over the years and I enjoy the food. I wish everything was vegan though and if it were I'd give it 4 stars. It is not as vegetable forward as I'd prefer but you can request to add specific vegetables for an upcharge. There is also another location a few miles away. If you live in SJ or are visiting it's worth checking out. If you're vegan just make sure you double check when you order. It's a good lunch spot or a casual dinner. I really like the oyster mushroom appetizer and the fresh rolls sampler. Portions are above average which is always good.

Good noodle soups - Edit
Went here on a cold day for a good old noodle soup that hit the spot. The portions are huge, so if you are like me, 2 ppl can share a soup and appetizer. We ordered the house special which was pretty good. The other soup we ordered was a pho but somehow the server got us the spicy noodle soup instead. I thought that one was ok. We also ordered the spring rolls, which was good but not the best. Would do here again to try the other items.
Read moreA word of caution to fellow vegans - all items are not vegan, so be sure to check the menu - its clearly marked or ask the server.
Update - Went here again recently and tried the House special hotpot. Although the menu says it was spicy, to me it was unbearably spicy. The broth was filled with whole chilies and cloves. On this day, the music was also very loud with rap music. Overall, it wasn't a great experience and I wouldn't be running to go here anytime soon.

My new favorite ! - Edit
I visited my mother in the Bay Area for her birthday and got a big spread of takeout from here one night. My non-vegan family loved it. And I loved it so much I came back the next day for lunch with an old friend. I do think it’s my new favorite place to visit when I come back to the Bay !

Great Vietnamese Food - Edit
A family member brought food from Green Lotus to a gathering. I was very impressed with the food, but as importantly my omnivore family also really enjoyed it (paying it, sadly, the highest omnivore compliment which is “I’d never guess it was vegan”). The restaurant offers a good balance of whole food and fake meat-cantered options, which is nice.

Serene decor and amazing food! - Edit
Really delicious food and peaceful colors painted inside. Our toddler daughter loved everything we ordered and she can be kind of picky with her food. The papaya and mango salads were so refreshing and the hot food (My family got a bunch of things) was the perfect temperature and we could not get enough!

My Favorite Vegan Restaurant - Edit
I absolutely love Green Lotus and have taken many people here for some amazing vegan Vietnamese food.
Read moreThis place had it all and everything was delicious. The Pho ($11) with tofu and meat-substitutes was incredibly flavorful and tasted just like it's beef cousin. We had their "BBQ Pork Rolls ($7)" which were great starters, served with a tasty peanut sauce. Their Mushroom Porridge ($11) was also stellar and reminded me of Cantonese congee from home - absolutely YUM. The Claypot Fish ($14) was sweet and savory, served on top of brown rice ($3) made for an incredible dish. Everything was delicious!
More recently, I've always ordered their Fried Mushrooms ($11) which is now a staple of every meal. I have not had fried mushrooms as good as Green Lotus anywhere else, and I encourage you to try it if you're okay with consuming fried foods.
Parking area is small and sometimes they close early for events. I would call ahead to make sure they are open and for how long.
Pros: Best vegan Vietnamese food in town, Fried Mushrooms are stellar
Cons: May close unexpectedly or early

Everything is so delicious! - Edit
I've been here twice and have been impressed both times. Ordered the "beef" pho and fried oyster mushrooms, both so well seasoned and the soup was spicy! The portions are huge and I always have yummy leftovers to enjoy tomorrow. New favorite spot when I'm visiting for a hockey game.

One of the most amazing meals I’ve had! - Edit
We were so lucky to find Green Lotus on Happy Cow after touring the nearby Winchester house. As a family with some vegans, some picky eaters, etc., everyone was amazed by their meal. It was truly amazing.

Delicious - Edit
It was my first time eating here. I didn’t know they were vegetarian but they made adjustments to my order to omit non vegan items. Some of their items have milk and egg.

My go-to for vegan pho - Edit
I’ve been coming here and ordering to go since this location opened last year. Pretty much every time I get the Vietnamese pho and it’s amazing. I eat mostly plant based and beef pho was the hardest to give up until I had the pho from here. To be honest, it’s better than most pho places around in general. Their other dishes like the curry and papaya salad are also delicious.

Fantastic food - Edit
I saw this place in passing. Was excited to try it. They had great, prompt service. Because of covid19, they are only serving to go orders, but there is outdoor seating that you can enjoy your meal. Very nice staff. Food was excellent! Will be back!

Great new vegan/vegetarian restaurant - Edit
I have eaten there twice now and was never disappointed. The food is really good and the staff is eager to please. The place is airy and bright. The only drawback is the parking. The restaurant is located in a business circle with other restaurants and businesses around. During lunch it's easier that at dinner time. However, parking down the street on Bascom Avenue is usually not a problem. This should not deter anyone from going there and supporting this new almost all vegan restaurant.

Delicious Vietnamese Food - Edit
The two dishes we got were very tasty. Although most of the food in this restaurant is Vietnamese, we were surprised that the green curry was competitive with the best we've tasted in Thai restaurants.
Read moreThe service was friendly and eager to accept our customization requests of the curry dish.
