Earl Grey Cake - Edit
I ordered an Earl Grey cake for my wife’s birthday, and it’s one of my favorite delicious vegan cakes.
Read moreIt has a very rich blend of rose, pistachio, and Earl Grey flavors. We were very pleased with the cake, and it was reasonably priced. The owner and staff were very friendly too. I also tried the Monkey Chocky Banana on a different occasion, and it was just yum!

Our regular - Edit
We are visiting Sydney for medical reasons and quickly found what we want to call our 'regular' over the next few weeks. Comfort Asian food in a quaint little place where we can enjoy our shared meals, digest with a Chinese tea and take home a yummy dessert.

The best - Edit
The OG vegan spot- the shantung chicken reigns supreme and the tofu layers is always on my mind. Nicest staff. Great food. Will always support this place!

Solid spot for vegan buffet lunch - Edit
If you are looking for vegan food in the north shore, Green Gourmet has a great selection of mock meats and Chinese dishes, and it’s located not too far from the train station. You can get a buffet style lunch and pay by weight. I used to go to the Newtown one constantly during uni, but St Leonard’s basically offers the same menu.

Decent Vegan Chinese Food - Edit
I used to go to the Green Gourmet in Newtown for their buffet order by plate weight and now I’m back to taste some of their menu at St Leonards. The curry triangles and the Malaysian curry had a major spice hit (for my friend and I who are at 0-mild spicy level). The peanut satay skewer’s vegan chicken tasted delicious with their peanut satay sauce. If you love a hint of ginger in your food then you’ll love their air fried radish cakes which is very light and airy with that flavourful hit in your mouth! My friend also enjoyed their chia prawn dumplings 🥟

Good solid vegan has been here for years - Edit
We have driven past this place for 10 years before finally going there which is a shame because it it is local to us. It is in a slightly strange location, easy to get to as it is just across the road from St Leonard’s train station and has multiple bussing options being o; the Pacific Highway. The decor is a bit dated but very functional and clean. It is very family run type restaurant with friendly staff that are very pleased to welcome you.
Read moreThe food is good, there are plenty of options to choose from, you aren’t left wanting. Big range of steamed dim sum type items (dumplings, etc.) and a large number of other mains dishes that are well done. We had a faux salt and pepper squid that was surprisingly convincing, some steamed items and some other main dishes. They serve non-alcoholic beer and a range of other drinks. There is a range of vegan deserts.
Gluten free options are available and clearly marked on the menu. Didn’t take any photos sorry.

Pros: Good food with a range of options, Looks uninviting but the people are lovely
Cons: Basic decor is a bit unappealing from the outside

I was with my wife last Saturday, booked for 6 pm, was running a little late so rang them and rudely said if you come 10 minutes late, we can't accommodate you. Anyway reached on dot but the lady kept saying that we have to hurry up because they are booked out. In fact, they weren't. We finished our eating within 40 minutes as we were being told to hurry up. Rude. Food ordinary. We had to take tiramisu desert with us as they wouldn't allow us to sit. It was horrible. My wife and I got sick the next day. Been there before many times but sorry bye bye. Never again you rude lot.

That’s a shame. It’s always been reasonably empty when we’ve come here as there is seating out the back as well, so this surprises me greatly, we’ve never once found them to be rude or rushing. They are always a bit standoffish and over polite from our experience. Never been sick from here or other vegan/plant based restaurants as that’s hard work tbh, food hygiene is allot easier with plant based cuisine. Are you sure you have reviewed the right place? Anyway shame you had a bad experience, it’s not stunning by any means but it is a good to.

Great food mock meats! - Edit
If you get some cravings now and then for the texture and flavor of fish, shrimp, squid, pork, and other meats, you should definitely visit this place. The dishes might not always taste exactly like it's animal inspiration, but it usually has the same texture and very good taste. Great squid, great pork... I give it four stars just because I find the food to greasy, like in most Chinese restaurants, so I consider this "cheat day" food you can't really eat as a regular lunch/dinner or just frequently in general. A bit expensive as well, but definitely very careful about delivery and many paper options.

Gone Downhill - Edit
I have been a very regular customer of this and the now closed original Newtown branch.
Read moreThe fried rice was the best anywhere in the early 2000s and I have watched it become less diverse and substantial over the past few years. However after the last one I had on Thursday 1/9/22,enough is enough. The rice was gluggy and sparsely intertwined with a few peas and carrots with no soy pieces or fake seafood to be seen.Quite frankly if was worse than Tian Ci’s dismal special fried rice.
I hope that GG can get itself back on track.
I will try again in a few weeks with the hope that they have paid heed to their diminishing quality and quantity. #Veganuary

Great vegan with Gluten free clearly denoted, which is rare for many restaurants. - Edit
