My go to place

My go to place for healthy vegan food as well as tasty hot items and desserts. Cheap as well, pay by weight. Pineapple sweet & sour tempeh and the chocolate mousse cake are the best..

Pros: Cheap, Tasty

Cons: Have a rotating menu

Long History

My dad's been vegan most of my life and I remember him taking me here as a kid.
Now that I'm an adult vegan myself, I always enjoy going to Green Cuisine. As mentioned, they're by-weight buffet style, with ingredient lists next to everything - they always have focaccia and corn breads, plus salad ingredients, hummus, and one or two daily soups. The soups change day to day, and both the beads and the soups are fixed price items.
The rest of their savoury buffet changes day to day; my personal favourites are the tempeh (all), lentil patties (I don't even like lentils, wth), and scalloped potatoes.
On top of that, they always have by-weight and by-item desserts.
Always worth the price, in my opinion.

Great Selection

The best part about Green Cuisine is the great selection of food in the buffet. The food is decent. There is a bit of everything to please lots of different tastes. The desserts are outstanding though. A lot of times we come to green cuisine just for their desserts.

It's a pay by weight style buffet so be careful as it can get to be unexpectedly expensive. It has a hippy cafeteria vibe but it's the place to go for a quick casual vegan meal in Victoria. Lentil soup with focaccia bread is an excellent deal! Filling but cheap.

Pros: Great Buffet Selection, Outstanding Dessert, Great Lentil Soup & Focaccia Deal

Cons: Unexpectedly Expensive, Cafeteria Atmosphere

Heaven

This is the place to go as a vegan. I love it, their chai latte are really good and everything is out of this world. Everyone should go there, vegan or not.

You don't want to miss out. This place is AMAZING! Great atmosphere and a ridiculous amount of food options. Pay by weight, affordable delicious vegan food for any time of the day! They have wifi and lots of room to dine and chill. My fav place in Victoria

Pros: Lots of options, Great prices, Delicious & ALL Vegan!

Cons: Nothing, Nada, No cons whatsoever.

Fairly pricey but a great spot

It's a pay by weight buffet, and generally for what you get I find it fairly pricey. However, there are some fantastic options here (I love their falafels, samosas, and shepherd's pie) and their vegan ice creams are absolutely out of this world! Their wheat-free chocolate cake is delicious too. Great place for casual dining :)

Pros: Casual place, great for meeting up with friends, Ice cream!! , They host local animal rights meetups often

Cons: Can get loud with kids running around

Great Vegan Buffet

I came here twice for lunch while in Victoria and really liked it. I love being able to customize the size and balance of a meal, and also loved the variety of their options. The quality was good in my opinion - there's nothing pretentious about the place (food or decor-wise); it's a super good casual but a definitely good casual choice.

Pros: Lots of variety, Priced by weight, Relaxed atmosphere

Cons: Not a place for more up-scale dates

buffet

While it is so great to have an all Vegan Buffet, I found it very bland. I tried the veggie lasagna, spring rolls, cornbread, tofu and rice.
I think next time I'll just take it as a salad bar. Lots of fresh veggies. Maybe I just chose the wrong things.

Pros: all Vegan, super friendly , well priced

Cons: no spice

Good vegan buffet

Lots of choices which you often don't get and lots of styles of food so you can make some good combos. Food was pretty fresh for a buffet (I usually find the idea a bit gross).

Good selection

The best part about this place is the variety. There are so many options to choose from and it's based on weight of the plate. All food is vegan. But unfortunately, the food is just ok. Not bad, but we each sampled several dishes and nothing stood out.

Loved this place!

We had lunch here the first day after we got in and dinner the next day. Food was excellent both times with lots of options. Definitely get the cornbread, the tempeh, and the berry cheesecake! Prices were reasonable, but you'll probably be looking at $20+ if you're hungry and pile on your plate. The central location is hard to beat too!

Great Homestyle food and desserts

I ate here twice on a recent trip to Victoria. It is buffet style and pay by weight. A good selection of different main dishes such as tofu, tempeh, curry, mac'n'cheeze etc. All was good. The desserts are excellent. They seem to have 4 different desserts such as cheezecake, fruit crumble as pay by weight and also have other cakes and cookies to buy priced per item. So much to choose from. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you need to clear your table when you are done. I appreciated that they had real plates and cutlery as sometimes this type of restaurant will use paper and plastic. It seemed very eco friendly.

Pros: Homestyle, Great desserts, Friendly atmosphere

Cons: Only open until 8 pm

Pretty good

I used to hate this place because the food all tasted the same to me. This was awhile ago and I'm happy to say most of the stuff I've had since has been pretty good.

The decor is bad and dated and the bathrooms always seem kinda grimy. I'm just going to put that out there.

For the above reason, I pack my stuff to go or sit outside.

I love that they offer so many options. Weigh-by-the-plate buffet can get costly if you get too excited though. I usually get a soup, salad, and a slice of bread, and that costs me around $5.

This is my "I'm hungry and I'm downtown alone and I want food now!" place.

Pros: Kid-Friendly, Lots to choose from, Cheap if you don't make your plate heavy

Cons: The decor, The bathrooms, The outdated hippy vibe

Interesting

I wandered in here by accident once and then walked out again because I thought I had gone in the wrong place. I wound up going back because I was meeting friends and they suggested we check it out. I am glad I came back. Its very unassuming when you walk in because it feels like a school cafeteria. They have all sorts of options from curries, to salads, to sandwiches and smoothies. I really enjoyed that the seating areas were broken up and kinda more intimate. It made me enjoy my time with my friends a lot more as I don't see them very often. I'll come back here because the staff was helpful and nice and I have great memories.

Pros: Neat selection, Nice friendly staff, Interesting seating arrangements

Cons: Hard to find, Confusing the first time

Great quick meal

Flavourful food at a decent price. As mentioned by others, it can be a little pricey as it is pay by weight, but they have some very affordable items too (slices of breads, $1.80 bowls of fries that you can fill as full as you possibly can, and a similar deal with rice) so if you get your starch that way, the meal becomes much more affordable. The buffet style is convenient, I often run in to grab a quick snack if I get stuck downtown longer than expected, so I feel it's benefits outweigh the fact that the food isn't always hot. Their cornbread is amazing, and I'm never disappointed with their wide selection of desserts. Also, if you mention that you are a student you receive a discount, which is greatly appreciated.

Pros: Wide variety - menu changes daily, Student discount, Quick

Cons: Can be expensive

Totally convincing buffet

To begin with "Green Cuisine" is a buffet restaurant, so don't expect any gourmet food or waiter service. Basically it's an all-vegan canteen with plenty of choice, both fixed and varying dishes.
It comes as no surprise that not each and every choice is as hot as it should be. However, by and large "Green Cuisine" offers one of the best buffets I have ever seen. What I liked most about it is the great range of vegan food! It's probably the best point you can make in disproving non-vegans that vegan food is boring and poor in choices, just go there and show them the incredible range of value food.
It is a bit expensive, but on the other hand it's a nice atmosphere there and there is plenty of space to sit. On top of that the opening hours are really convenient.

Pros: incredible range, value food, very convenient opening hours

Cons: a bit pricey

Great variety buffet

I love this kind of place! I am bad at deciding which item to pick on a menu, but at a buffet, you can try a bit of everything. And everything I had at Green Cuisine was delicious. It is the kind of food everyone (not only vegans) can enjoy.
The restaurant is nicely located in Market Square.

Pros: Tasteful, 100% vegan, Nicely located

Enjoyed our lunch

It is buffet. They had a good variety. Dishes that I don't get very often. So often soup is vegan soup is lentil but they had a vegan cream of spinach soup! Nice variety of desserts as well. We sat outside to eat and that was very pleasant. Not fancy but very tasty. Recommend it.

Pros: tasty food, good variety of food, nice to dine outside
