Best Chinese food I've ever had! - Edit
Incredible! The staff are knowledgeable about what is and isn't vegan and are very helpful if you have questions. The portion sizes are good. With any dish, it's easy to substitute one thing for another, though there are some upcharges for certain swaps. The fried eggplant and tofu are unbelievably delicious!

Good - Edit
Some dishes were great - I loved my chow mein, but the salt & pepper tofu was very heavy and bland. Also found the server to be very disengaged.

Lots of vegan options - Edit
Went there with two other vegans, the food was quite delicious, but unfortunately the brought us at first pot stickers with meat, which was intended for another table...

Great vegan selection and knowledgeable staff - Edit
I’ve been excited to try this place. It seems like a lot of the pics on here are dated and I wanted to upload some new ones.
Read moreLocated in a nice area. Inside was clean and staff seemed knowledgeable on vegan items and what could be made vegan. There is a whole dedicated vegetarian section where most of not everything is vegan/can be made vegan.
I ordered the tofu and broccoli in garlic sauce with a small side of rice. Nice portion and tasted great. Broccoli was perfectly cooked and the dish had great flavor. Would definitely come back again.
Fortune cookies they give you after dinner are vegan as well as an extra plus 🙂

Great food, try the dumplings! - Edit
Everything was delicious! Though they serve meat, the vegetarian menu was extensive.

Nice veg for Monterey - Edit
There aren’t many good vegetarian/vegan eateries with their own menu offering in this town. Their vegetarian menu is easily made vegan and they are incredibly kind and accommodating to dietary requests. This will likely become one of our regular places.

Overall terrible experience - Edit
Got food for takeout. They put my kung pao in a rice container? The sauce leaked absolutely everywhere. I received no utensils, no napkins, and the kung pao doesn’t even taste like anything. Thankfully the *one* soy sauce they gave me has made it bearable to eat. Spent $16 on yucky, messy food. Find somewhere better!

Chow fun - Edit
The staff was really nice & gave a separate vegetarian menu when I asked for one. She answered questions and confirmed that there was no egg in the chow fun. It was good!

5-star Review (Happy Cow won't let me select the 5th star) - Edit
Great Wall is AMAZING. Despite their not being a designated menu for vegan items (yet), the vegetarian menu is easily adapted to be vegan. Emily (the owner) goes above and beyond to let her customers know what ingredients are in each dish and which ones can be made vegan.
Read moreThe food is outstanding. All the ingredients are fresh and seasoned perfectly. Our go to's are the veggie fried rice with no egg, salt and pepper tofu with jalapenos, mushroom and veggie tempura (no egg batter), and the sizzling rice soup (no chicken broth). They are expanding to include mock meats such as a shrimp tempura made with yam (amazing).
The service is outstanding, they really care about their customers and take good care to cater to your needs.
We can't stay away for more than a week!
Pros: Easily adaptable for vegan, Amazing service, Best Chinese We've ever had
Cons: A little pricey but the quality speaks for itself, No alternative for chow mein (yet)

Owner Is Vegetarian - Edit
Had great vegan Chinese food here. The owner was very explicit about how they're happy to alter dishes as long as the restaurant isn't super busy. She is vegetarian.

Great Vegan Chinese - Edit
So fun to get traditional Chinese food in a restaurant that's making the effort to clearly mark everything and have an extended vegan menu. We had the pot stickers, garlic broccoli and tofu, Mandarin tofu, szechuan green beans and chow fun noodles. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. A big win for us 😁

My favorite Chinese restaurant in town! - Edit
Come here if you want to try some veg Chinese dishes! I’ve been getting the Mandarin tofu which comes with rice. It’s so bomb! The waiter even recommended that I order the sauce on the side since I was calling in for an order for pick up. That was so nice of him. They also sell beer in the restaurant. 😋

Delicious vegan options - Edit
This was so delicious! Husband and I are visiting from Los Angeles. . . I’m always hesitant to try vegan dishes from new places but I’m so happy we tried this! If I’m ever in this area again I will definitely make sure to stop here. Staff was super friendly as well. That’s always a plus!

delicious - Edit
The food was great. They have a separate vegetarian section. Make sure to specify that you don’t want eggs, soy sauce etc. the chow mein is made with egg noodles but the chow fun is not (can’t remember if it’s wheat or rice noodles). We got the cashew tofu (came with a side of rice) and chow fun.

Chinese with choice - Edit
Great spot for Chinese food. Lots of items on the ‘vegetarian plate’ page including wontons and spring rolls for appetizers. Servings were large and easy to share. Four stars for ease of ordering vegetarian and nice typical Chinese flavors.
