We had a group of five and all ordered appetizers, entrees, drinks, and dessert. Everything was so delicious and the staff were friendly! Met up with non-vegan friends who enjoyed everything as well!

Nice to have a completely vegan restaurant, though at $20 an entree, it's splurge fare though the vibe is casual. Desserts look amazing but I'm always too stuffed to try them

Gourmet vegan - Edit
It's worth every penny. You can tell they use fresh ingredients. The pierogi quesadilla was listed as an app, but it felt like an entree. The side sauces went so well with the dish too. The presentation of their food was superb, and the overall experience was great. I also loved that they had Valentines Day cookies for sale in the restaurant. I'd eat here every day if I could.

Check out Roots market for more vegan finds and desserts in their refrigerator section .
Pros: Gourmet average sized plates, Sit down upscale dining, Good sides
Cons: I wish they had a larger menu , Pricey $18 for a sandwich

I can't believe I haven't done a Happy Cow review of my hands-down favorite DMV-area restaurant! It's time to correct that:
Read moreGreat Sage is absolutely fantastic! Delicious food, inviting atmosphere - just perfect. I just wish it was closer to DC, but it's fun to make it into an outing by including shopping at super vegan-friendly Roots Market right next door.
For years, Great Sage has been our go-to place for birthdays, anniversaries, or just plain fun. Love it!
Pros: 100 Vegan, Delicious food, Wonderful atmosphere

Enjoyed lunch on the patio. Service was super-friendly and the food was delicious. Opted for the Ginger Dijon salad with baked tofu. The portion was huge so got to enjoy it again later. Didn’t order dessert but there were plenty of choices. Highly recommend!

My first time ever - Edit
I’ve been hearing about this place forever, and we finally met friends here on a Saturday afternoon. I was the only first-timer in our group. Everything on their menu is plant-based, and if you ask me, they have the best carrot cake in the entire state of Maryland

Tres leches not so good - Edit
The “tres leches” was not moist at all. It was dry and hard, nothing like a real tres leches. I’ve had vegan tres leches before that were tasty but this was not. It was pretty tho… I was served a hot latte in a glass container which was hard to drink because the glass was hot. Food was okay. I got a stomach ache soon after leaving.

Amazing - Edit
I’ve been going here since before they went fully vegan. Now I’m fully vegan too! I love bringing my friends who are carnists here to celebrate my birthday. I love ordering a bunch of items and sharing them with my friends. But if I don’t do it that way I always get an appetizer, entree, and dessert. All amazing. I prefer less processed and there’s something for everyone here. I’m also cheap so I definitely prefer brunch. The dinner entrees are mostly $18 .

The perfect vegan date spot. - Edit
My partner and I always go to Great Sage on special occasions. For the past two years we visited Great Sage on Valentine's Day and both times the food and service did not disappoint. The food is phenomenal and one of the only places in the area that serves a vegan high dinning experience. I am soy and gluten intolerant AND vegan so it can be really difficult to eat out, but Great Sage has clear menu markings for substitutions and dietary restrictions. If you haven't tried it and are vegan, you are seriously missing out!

Super good, high quality but a little starchy and pricey - Edit
Unsure of whether or not there was seating we took our food to go and ended up sitting at the nearby commons food hall - but they did have outdoor seating during covid so that’s a plus.
Read moreWe got the artichoke and spinach dip which was a lot of artichoke and very lemony. I will say it is good but definitely eat it while it’s hot and don’t save it for later/next day. Definitely not for anyone that doesn’t love artichokes.
I got the “crab cake” made from hearts of palm over the medley of veggies. Absolutely excellent and filling, I could barely finish the meal. The hearts of palm were shredded together and tossed nicely with a remoulade.
My partner got the adult Mac and cheese which was delicious, the top was cooked to the point of having a nice crust - very flavorful and different.
We also got the “tres leches cake” which was less a cake and more like a strawberry shortcake. With the “milk” and cream and a biscuit. Really good and light, doesn’t make you feel gross for eating it.
Finally the next day we had tried the s’mores cookie which was just OK, nothing to write home about
Pros: Fully vegan , High quality ingredients, Somewhat health conscious
Cons: A little expensive , A lot of starch in the menu items, Cookie wasn’t that delicious

Vegan sit downs are hard to find! - Edit
It is so nice that Great Sage is a fully vegan sit down restaurant. Their food is always awesome and it’s nice having a Roots next door. I wish they had a location closer to DC and I would go much more often! I try to find an excuse to go to Columbia whenever possible for Great Sage.

I have been dining here so long back when in 2011 they use to be a vegetarian restaurant. I love this vegan gem of a place.
Read moreKatie, Amanda, Jordan, Angel, Gabe are hard workers at this vegan restaurant.
My favorites: Funfetti Cookie with a scoop of ice cream on top.
Buffalo Cauliflower wings.
Buffalo Quesodilla.
Chicken Sandwich with honee mustard sauce with coleslaw.
They change the menu with the seasons, plus vegan resturant week and specials.
Non vegans are impressed. People would always check out my food and ask me what did you get. A variety of people from hippies to business people.
A lot of love in that place.
Pros: Kind people, Yummy food, Awesome service
Cons: limited seating now outside , No more regular plates, no more silverware
