What vegan food should be! - Edit
Meat replacement “products” need not apply at this fresh first, spice forward Mexican themed restaurant! I had the margarita followed rice and beans enchiladas and mushroom “chicken mole” Deserts shared afterwards finely crafted and superb.

Disappointed :( - Edit
I was really looking forward to this. First we had to wait too long to be taken to our table that they clearly had many available on the side patio. The side patio (where we had booked since main one was full) was maybe the biggest disappointment. The table sat furthest out, with no decorations around it. Waiter came to our table looking at his machine and didn’t even address us at first. We weren’t asked what we wanted to drink.. food was good but nothing special. Sparkling water (soda water? - I don’t know, he plonked it on the table and was on his way) might have been filtered or not. The great thing was that there was menu with all ingredients available as well. Loved that detail. Maybe inside or main patio are worth trying if we get to go next time.

You can’t not try it - Edit
I go here for special occasions as it’s definitely pricey (for me) but yooooo seriously it’s worth it. The (outdoor patio) atmosphere is very nice. The food is great. I’ve liked everything I’ve ordered from here. I take my non vegan parents and they love it. This is my favorite spot to go to as a nice treat.

beautiful restaurant, food is hit or miss - Edit
Their patio area is beautiful! I've tried lots of different dishes here, and honestly none of it's ever made me want to come back for the food (but end up coming back anyway to eat with a group). It's not bad by any means but nothing was that impressive.

Pricey but Fantastic - Edit
Not only is the food delicious, the atmosphere is charming and the service is excellent. I took a non-vegan here, and they didn’t know it was vegan until I told them after we left.

The outdoor dining area is gorgeous. Trees with solar lights, nice music, plants, nicely decorated.

The enchilada with raisin sauce was a bit sweet, but different in a nice way.
Great chips and salsa for the table.

Vegetarian-Mexican - Edit
If you love Mexican food, it you’re a vegetarian or vegan, this is the place for you. It is trendy, so be prepared for this. Also, the portions are small.
Read moreMy only real gripe is that you have to pay for the tortilla chips, and not that good...
Outside of this you can't really complain. The food is a fusion in style, as you can't point point where the food comes from. You can't tell what regions the food comes from. I grew up in Los Angeles and I honestly know Mexican food, I do love it. Gracias Madre is tasty. I’ve only been a vegetarian for 10 months... so I am still new to it.
Pros: Amazing Menu., Plenty of options., Takes food allergies seriously.
Cons: Small portions., The chips., Can’t pinpoint which region the food comes from.

Outstanding - Edit
The locale is beautiful and the food is outstanding. The flavors and textures are outstanding!! Do yourself a favor and try a dessert. You won’t regret it!! It’s usually fairly crowded, especially during lunch, but the wait is worth it. Try to sit in the courtyard, especially at night, so beautiful!

Inspired - Edit
Without a doubt there’s a skilled chef in the kitchen crafting this menu. The patio is beautiful and it is definitely an upscale dining experience that is worthwhile, but you can still dress casual. This is the spot to be for brunch as well. I’ve only been here once but I am just waiting for it to open back up again so I can go! Parking is a nightmare in the area but it’s worth the time to get to eat here.

Amazing food but a little too insta-friendly! - Edit
Wicked restaurant with some great food, a few too many selfies and food pics for my tastes but it is LA I guess. Sitting outside is lovely in the evening.

Great food and atmosphere - Edit
I rarely eat at Mexican restaurants because I’d rather make Mexican food at home, so Gracias Madre is a treat. Yes, their starters are expensive and not very big, but their entrees and dessert are worth the money. I most recently got the chile relleno with mole (a vegan version of which is hard to find), and it was fantastic. And the pineapple upside down cake was AMAZING.

Loved it! - Edit
Best vegan food I’ve had anywhere. A must for any vegan visiting LA! Try and get a seat in the courtyard if you can. Only negative feedback I’d give was the staff were a little too keen to clear plates away when food/drinks weren’t completely finished. Tables seem to have a high turnover but my friend and I were there for a leisurely 4 hours and in no rush to finish our food.

Amazing vegan place especially at night - Edit
I know Gracias Madre gets very crowded during lunch time for their Garden, but it's one of the few vegan places that actually seems really better at night time! A great bar scene and with the lighting it feels really elegant. Of course you have to try the purista margarita, and I think they have the best chips and Guacamole in town. It is not cheap but you definitely feel like it's worth it.

Happening place! - Edit
I had heard so much about this place. You have to make a res to get in! It was completely packed with people and had good high energy. It was hard to choose from everything on the menu — I ate the Dos bowl with grilled tofu and it was delicious and really filling. I enjoyed my meal there but it is overpriced. $24 for my bowl! There was nothing spectacular about the place or meal to warrant the prices so you are paying to be LA trendy.
