Vegan Joy in Newport Beach - Edit
We love this place and as often as we can. They have super friendly folks that are always to hang with. Top notch food and lots of choices. My favorite is the Cesar Salad. Check out their happy hour or taco Tuesday. #Veganuary

Pleasantly Surprised - Edit
One of the first vegan spots I learned of was Gracias Madre when I transitioned to a veg lifestyle. I was finally able to try Gracias Madre, and I was pleasantly surprised, but it still is not one of my favorites. I had seen some mixed reviews, but I initially hesitated to try it due to the higher price point. We ordered drinks, the crunch wrap, enchiladas, and pineapple upside-down cake.
Read moreThe Palomas were a strong pour, to say the least, which I personally am not a fan of, but my boyfriend's whiskey sour was good. Now, this may have been the tequila talking (I have seen some negative reviews, especially about this item), but I liked the crunch wrap. It was a large portion, as I would expect for the price, and it was flavorful. Even my side of rice and beans were good. My only complaint was the salsa, as it was not my favorite. My boyfriend's enchiladas (to which he added a protein) were nearly $30 and flavorless. We were unamused by the lack of flavor and the fact that we knew we could get much better enchiladas for half the price. However, the night ended sweetly as the pineapple upside-down cake was very good. The cake was moist, and the coconut gelato was decent as well.
I will probably not eat here again, but it was fun to try it once. Gracias Madre was mainly just not our scene, but it is worth a try to see if it is yours!

A favorite brunch spot - Edit
A big bowl of pozole hit the spot on a cloudy Sunday morning. The tender hominy, chick peas and carrots in a red chile broth tasted delicious garnished with shredded cabbage, cilantro and radish slices, and lime wedges. The broth wasn’t oily and the ingredients were fresh. The chips and guacamole were great. I loved the avocado chunks. The French toast is a winner and comes with berries and cashew cream.

Decent food, cool vibe… - Edit
I came here with my cousins and we all really enjoyed the food and ambience. The place has definitely got a vibe. We tried the Esquites appetizer which was creamy and delicious. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes for my main dish which was good. I’ve had better Mexican food elsewhere, but it wasn’t terrible. If you’re looking for a place to have a nice dining experience, I wouldn’t hesitate coming here.

Impressive, trendy looking place with bad service. No server or water for 10 minutes after being seated. Similar service for rest of visit. First visit for me...is it always like this?

Ahh so good - Edit
I got their “fish” battered gluten free tacos and they were so good! I also tried two other types of their tacos and was just as impressed. The sauce it comes with is great. I ordered the food to go on my way to a nearby family event so I didn’t eat inside but I was so happy with their food and am looking forward to returning and bringing my family along

Not my favorite - Edit
Love the vibe, it’s a beautiful place. Service was wonderful. However this was my 4th time being disappointed in the food. Growing up in a household where Mexican food was all we are, I was expecting a little more authenticity. It just lacks flavor, the best thing we had was the queso fundido, worst thing we had was the crunch wrap. I came this last time because a friend wanted to go and convinced me to give it another try. That will for sure be my last time though. 🥺

Great ambiance and cocktails - Edit
This place is super good and innovative.i appreciated the fun things they were using for ingredients. Notable are coconut meat tacos, which unfortunately came ice cold but I think they'd be dank otherwise. Also had Ceviche, fish tacos, portobello, and oyster tacos. Fish tacos were tasty as heck.

Top Notch Food and Dessert - Edit
Absolutely fabulous food and ambience. Our highlights were the fysh tacos, huevos rancheros, and the guava cheesecake. As a vegan baking enthusiast I’m especially impressed by the unique flavor of the guava cheesecake that worked so beautifully with a perfect texture. I would not have known it was vegan! #Veganuary

My wife and I went in for dinner. Great service overall but the fish tacos arrived wrong (we ordered corn tortillas and they came with flour… my wife is gluten intolerant). It took a while to get the replacements and they did comp one of the meals. The nachos and guacamole were great. The key lime pie was only okay.

Awesome brunch. - Edit
The service was out standing! Food delish! I really enjoyed the potato tower on the brunch menu. Roasted potatoes soyorizo and queso(cashew). Yummm! Right up my alley!! Hubby enjoyed the Huevos rancheros. Didn’t save room for dessert but grabbed a couple of cookies from their sister restaurant around the corner!! I will review that later:) GPS sent us to the back parking lot, not sure why?? But there was a sign saying the parking was for them, so we walked and found the restaurant.

Great tasting food, poor service - Edit
The food was very tasty, unfortunately the slow service negatively impacted the food quality and experience. Our waiter poured our water then disappeared. After 15 mins I had to ask another waiter if we could order drinks and apps from them. Our pozole soup was Luke warm and the crunch wrap was a “soggy wrap”. It clearly sat too long. Lots of potential to make this place great.

Swank Vegan Restaurant - FIVE STARS! - Edit
Beautiful, comfortable, stylish space for wonderful vegan Mexican food. We were celebrating so we started with the Guacamole & Chips (spendy menu of Starters ranging from $14.50 to $25) and a couple delicious house margaritas. Then we moved on to the Tacos Del Mar ($23.50) and the Enchiladas Verdes ($22.50).

I read before coming that the portions are huge, but even for me when I was sooooo hungry, I brought home leftovers! Everything was delicious - had the nachos, Crunchwrap, brownie, and pineapple upside down cake. The pineapple upside down cake was out of this world - light, fluffy, sweet, and delicious!

What vegan food should be! - Edit
We had three tacos (the coconut one was recommended to us and it was so good!) and some other flavours and they were all absolutely delicious. Had the fuerte crunch wrap and that was amazing also, so crunchy and fresh. Very beautiful atmosphere, great drinks, and attentive staff. We’re just visiting California and it was the best meal we’ve had so far! So happy that it is all vegan, it is the standard of what vegan food should be!
