Interesting experience

We went to Govinda's for dinner... When we arrived they asked us if we wanted to visit the Hare Krishna Temple. We could order our food and visit the temple while it was prepared. It was a bit before 7 and there was dancing and singing going on, it was a lot of fun. You could hear the celebrations from the eatery as well.

The food was good and reminded me of the food I had in India. We didn't order from the menu because we didn't know what everything was and I did not want to risk getting any unexpected dairy. So we ordered some mixed vegetables, dal and rice. She made everything from scratch, including peeling the potatoes. It was more expensive than expected but worth the entire experience.

Pros: Good food made from scratch, Hare Krishna Temple upstairs for extra experience

Cons: Off-menu orders are more expensive

Local Homey Hare Krishna Spot

I've ate at Govinda's Hare Krishna spots in Brisbane, Barcelona, and Swansea. This is not like that. Much more like having food at someone's house. One nice lady runs the place, she asked me if I wanted a veg thali and I said yes. It was good, 120 baht, I took the photo there. Very religious lady, friendly, speaks English better than Thai. An Indian friend of hers dropped by who didn't speak English well, but lived all her life in Thailand so we spoke Thai. They spoke Hindi (or Punjabi?) to each other. A strange, but pleasant, 3 language conversation ensued.

I think you can ask her what she can cook, I think she can cook many different things. As you can see by the other reviewer, she can cook borscht, which I asked her about. Seemed it was no problem for her.

Good place for some Indian food and conversation for the foreigner who just can't find a Thai to speak English with lol.

Pros: food was good, friendly

Cons: 120 may be a bit much for a thali...
