My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant last year. We ordered a pasta dish and a salad. We had a few bites of the pasta and realized that there was butter on it, though we had previously been told that it was a vegan dish. When we told the waitress about it, she was very confused as to why we wouldn't eat butter. She later came out and said that the dishes are pre-made and all contain butter. (Some of our problems could have stemmed from errors in translation). We ended up eating the salad, which was pretty boring and doused in oil. We were very disappointed with this place and will not go back. Suitable for vegetarians.
Two friends, on two separate occasions, surprised me and took me here! So, even though I said I would 'not go back', I DID and was very satisfied with the food. The first time I had a regular salad (tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, etc.) and borscht - the soup was excellent! - and the second time I had a salad made with apples, avocados, cashes, and coconut milk for dressing, which was awesome! I think it helped that my friends were Russian and so could translate for me and figure out what was vegan. The staff were pleasant and the restaurant was quite busy both times but we were able to find a table. Also, very clean, and has vegan and vegetarian food for sale.
We checked their menu on the website and found pretty much vegan options. When we came in at 16.00, most dishes were not available with very few vegan ones. They put vedic butter everywhere. We asked them not to, but they said the food is already prepared and we need to call in the morning for special arrangements. We end up drinking tea. We also wanted to buy veg sausage but it was out of store as well. Although the place suits vegetarians rather than vegans, it has good vibe.
This is a cosy little place somewhat off the beaten track. The food, atmosphere and service were all good. If you're in Kazan I'd recommend giving it a try.
It does sell fish however, at least it did when I was there in February, so it's not completely vegetarian. And as sometimes is the case in restaurants in Russia, it didn't have available a lot of the items listed on the menu.
