Positive vibes

Was here a couple of years ago and didn't leave a review. I remember the positive vibes, Indian music and a tasty buffet with lots of vegan options.

Not bad

I used to dislike this place. The food there does not match the price. But recently I suddenly decided to visit again. And that was pretty good. There were a few new tasty dishes. So I recommend trying the crispy seitan and sweets. OMG, these sweets were so creamy and yummy. The other food didn't impress me, but these two dishes make my visit there worthwhile.

Pros: Crispy seitan, Sweets, There is a store with vegan food

Cons: Many options with dairy

good food, low money

very nice and comfortable place. doesnt have too many vegan options, since quite a lot looks like it has dairy. though a good place to go, since it tastes good and the few options are great at a low price.

Pros: cheap

Hey, quantity over quality

Arrived rather late in the afternoon and had a large portion of cold food (guessing due to the time of the day?) for 250 rubles.

Probably the worst Indian food I’ve ever had, it was very bland and the setting was incredibly uncosy. Like heavy on the fluorescent lighting and volume way too loud for what the poor speakers could handle.

The guy serving us was so rude (aye, even for Russian standards) it was comical, but he spoke English and could point out the vegan dishes.

Pros: Cheapish, pay per grams kinda thing

Cons: Bland food , Unfriendly staff

Good choice for a cheap & tasty lunch

Not pure vegan, but still quite a good choice. No labelling, but the cook pointed out for me wich food is vegan. Nice little shop with vegan & Indian products.

Could be better

It's the only vegetarian place at the time of writing.
Run by the Hare Krishna members buffet-style restaurant, dishes sometimes cold/lukewarm.

The dishes are very oily and cheesy. No eggs used.
The vegan choice is limited (usually around 3 options). The staff sometimes has problems identifying the vegan ones, often doesn't know what it means.

There's a choice of desserts, none of them vegan though. Tea and kompot/mors available. No coffee.

The food, in general, isn't my cup of tea but it's some solution when you're out in the city and end up hungry and frustrated because of lack of other options.

There's a health food store as well, seems like it's run by the same people.

Pros: Prices aren't too high

Cons: Limited choice for vegans, Food very oily, often lacks taste, No vegan desserts

pretty tasteless

As the only vegetarian restaurant in Irkutsk that I could find I felt like I should do it some justice, the ambience was nice, food reasonably priced but unfortunately tasteless. Counter style, most dishes cheesy

Cheap and really tasty!

Food is absolutely tasty, quite a few options though compared to other vegetarian stalovayas I've been in russia so far. But the good food makes it still worth visiting. Service is friendly and as I have a gluten-free diet they really took time to figure out what can I eat. Even the cook himself came to explain me the ingredients he used. I felt well served. Interior is hare Krishna and Indian style but a bit kitchy. Besides the restaurant there is a hare krishna shop that provides for example tea and spices amongst the other oriental products. The price is really inexpensive as the prices are according to the weight.

Pros: Cheap, Tasty food, Friendly service

Cons: Interior kind a kitchy

Decent

Friendly and helped me with the language barrier to find vegan foods. The food was delicious (but not overwhelming) and inexpensive, so that's a good combination.

There's also a little store that seems to have a lot of options, but I didn't buy anything in there.

Compared to other places in the world, it's not impressive, but it's the best thing in the area, definitely.

Pros: No meat, Friendly

Cons: Not impressive compared to other cities

weird place, ok food

Normally i tend to praise all fellow vegans merely for their efforts in popularizing the vegan life style, but here i feel i need to be objective. Govinda for me was a bit of a disappointment, very weird place with indian music playing, serving ladies in saris, but the interior was as of old fashionable palace style soviet apartment. I find it very un cosy. Service was extremely slow, i dont remember when i had to wait in a queue for that long.. Queue being just 5 people btw. The food itself was ok, i had a veggie steak, cauliflower in white sauce and a pie with spinach + ginger drink. All costed just 300 rubles and was good home made quality. The only thing i did not like is that the variety of foods at the counter was rather limited, not that many vegan choices.. Good place for tea or coffee or quick simple lunch, but i dont thin i will be coming back though

Pros: central location, good food

Cons: very slow service, terrible interior design, not much variety of dishes

Nice.

Went here once during my stay in Irkutsk, and found it easily using the address provided in another review. The place has a good vibe, and the staff were nice enough.

There was quite a variety of food to choose from, but unfortunately not many vegan options, and no vegan desserts. I had a cabbage and dill soup, roast potatoes, little potato balls and what I think was a nut meat patty, all of which was delicious. The other vegan foods available were rice and buckwheat. Make sure you ask the staff which dishes are vegan, as we thought some of the curries looked great but they all contained cheese.

Pros: Delicious

Cons: Weird payment system , Not many vegan options
