Absolutely delicious! - Edit
First off, I didn’t know this place would have as cool of a vibe as it did. Otherwise, I would have planned on dining there instead of ordering to-go.
Read moreThe individual that took my order was super friendly, informative, and quick to bring me my goodies.
I arrived pretty early, so my vegan options were the calabasita tamales and all the sides. They usually have more tamale options, but a little later in the day.
Also, they have compostable containers and they asked if I needed the utensils(probably compostable, too), which is much appreciated, because I planned on using my own, and dislike the extra waste.
I’ll be back! 100%

Delicious tamales! - Edit
I would give this place 5 stars if I could. I’ve always wanted to like tamales, but have always been slightly disappointed by the lack of flavor. The Tamales here were absolutely magnificent! They were the tamales I’ve always hoped for but could never find. I had the full plate and the flavor and texture combination was wonderful. The restaurant staff were all welcoming and kind. We will be back.

Best tamales I have ever had - Edit
I got the full house ($13) with the vegan soul. It was excellent. The tamale was delicious, sweet from the sweet potato and blue corn but slightly spicy from the salsa on top. This was also the first time I tried curtido. It was very good.
Read moreIt did feel a bit like the staff didn’t want my husband and I to eat there. Not sure why but it was a little uncomfortable.
Pros: Amazing food, 3 vegetarian tamale choices (2 were vegan)
Cons: Not very friendly

Probably the best vegan food in Knoxville - Edit
Good Golly is the place I always recommend to visitors. The vegan soul is ah-maz-ing!! And all the sides are vegan too. My friends and family always stock up frozen tamales to take home. Now we just need to convince them to get a vegan dessert.

A favorite! Delicious and affordable! - Edit
We love this place so much! We tried the Vegan Soul and the Veggie tamales with a side of collard greens. They were perfection! We liked them so much that we bought 3 frozen packages if the Vegan Soul tamales to eat for breakfast while we’re on vacation in Knoxville. Service - perfection! The staff is all so kind and helpful. The setting - warm and comfortable. We will miss this place when we go back home and plan to try making homemade tamales.

Great vegan tamales! - Edit
My vegan family of 4 stopped here on our way to Gatlinburg, and are so happy we did! We ordered 8 vegan soul tamales (the only tamale option), which had blue corn, sweet potato, blackeyed peas, and collard greens. We also ordered 2 sides of beans, and a side of spanish rice. We did not try the collard greens. All were vegan and gluten free, which I was so happy about! The tamales were so filling that we only ate one, and were able to reheat the following day for another lunch. My 13 year old son especially loved the tamales. My daughter (8 years old) ate both sides of beans instead. We all ate a healthy, filling meal!

Cons: would love another simpler, kid-friendly option

Delicious vegan tamales! - Edit
I don’t think I’d had a tamale since going vegan five years ago, so I’m forever grateful to Good Golly Tamales for their Vegan Soul tamales! I got two Vegan Soul tamales (which was more than one meal for me) on a recent road trip, and my mom, who’s vegetarian, also tried and liked the bean and cheese tamale. She liked the vegan one more though :)
Read moreThe staff is super nice, and the tamales come out piping hot - a perfect on the go lunch. It looks like they sometimes have more than one vegan tamale but that these are seasonal. Super recommend!

My Tamale Supplier! - Edit
These are great tamales, I’ve loved them for years. About once a month I’ll stop by and by a dozen vegan tamales from the freezer case, take them home and eat them for breakfast or lunch, fantastic! I also take some frozen ones with me when I travel. The Vegan Soul is their most popular tamale, so get there early if you want to buy some to take home.

They were out of the Vegan Soul, so I had the Calabacitas. Blue corn was not terribly pretty, but delicious! Beans and rice were great. Curtido not my favorite version. All sides were large portions!

My fav Knoxville restaurant - Edit
I absolutely LOVE good golly tamale. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in Knoxville and are very accommodating towards food restrictions. They have the cutest location in the old city and also participate in the Knoxville farmers market. They have options for EVERYONE from meat eaters to vegetarian to vegan. Everyone I take here falls in love with this place. The employees are all sweet and the restaurant has a very cool vibe. I love their calabictas tamale and vegan soul. It’s also pretty cheap too.

Wow. - Edit
They actually had two vegan tamales (Vegan Soul and Calabacitas). Both were awesome. Non-GMO corn, yes! Owner and staff were really nice. And the prices were so reasonable. Nice ambience, too. Highly recommend.

Solid stuff - Edit
I’d rate them higher if they offered more variety. They had more vegan options in the past, when they were strictly food cart based. If you’ve never had them before try it out. More options for vegetarians.
