New owners have no idea what they’re doing - Edit
Three weeks ago the place has been taken over by new owners. They kept the name, the reviews, the menu but not the fresh ingredients or cooked food. The fresh falafel and homemade hummus is replaced with freezer readymade crap.. they kept the same prices tho, so it’s really not worth your time or money. I wish I could be more positive but it’s the worst vegetarian food I’ve eaten in years.. I think it’s very misleading and unfair to customers to pretend the place is still the same.

Wouldn’t recommend - Edit
When we entered the restaurant the staff were sitting at the bar chatting and the place was totally empty. They seemed friendly enough, but the bar had a weird vibe. After a while I went to the bar to order and they said that they would take my order soon. After ten minutes another pair came in and they took their order immediately, while we continued to wait. As the waiter was taking the order he stuck his hand down the back of his pants and this was the point we decided to leave. They did have a few vegetarian options but we decided to skip eating here for previously mentioned reasons.

Tasty Lebanese! - Edit
Tasty food in a cosy area. Friendly and helpful staff. Vegan alternatives not marked on the menu, but the staff will help you find some. I had the falafel and baba ganoush, which was tasty, but not the best I've had.

Good for vegetarians - Edit
For vegans there was just hummus and falafel.
Read moreFor vegetarians also the shakshuka.
As other said: more a pub then a restaurant, but the owner was nice and so the atmosphere. Quiet and comfy for a beer and something easy to eat after a long day of walking.

Maybe a little too expensive for what you get, bit nothing dramatic and the pita included in the meal are way less then needed: you'll for sure order more!
Pros: Good atmosphere, Nice guy, International environment
Cons: A little expensive for what you get

Good food, great atmosphere - Edit
Came here for the falafel, came back because of the staff. While they do serve meat, there are plenty of vegitarian and a decent amount of vegan options for a non vegan place, which is rare in Japan. Their breakfast buffet also has plenty of vegetarian and some vegan options and they will even prepare an extra grilled tofu dish if they know vegans or vegitarians are dining. Best of all, everyone is very friendly.
Read moreI never had a long wait time for food, unless the place was crowded. You can pay by cash, card, or PayPay.

Great hummus and staff - Edit
I went there with my girlfriend who is vegetarian. We really enjoyed this quiet place. We shared an Israel plate which was wonderful, especially the hummus.

Tasty food - Edit
Went here for dinner, the time we waited for our food was perhaps a bit longer than average but the food was amazing. The hummus, pita and falafel was delicious and so was the mushroom pizza (a bit on the small side but only cost 700¥). The dinner menu had quite a few vegan and veggie options, clearly labelled.

Decent food, serving size a little small for the price - Edit
Very clearly marked vegan and vegetarian options (and there are a few of them), however the serving sizes were small. Still, the food was good and mostly middle eastern.

Worst experience ever - Edit
It took a long time to order and then 40 min until we got the food...even if the place was almost empty!! The music was very loud and the menu unclear. They say they have vegetarian and vegan pizza, pasta, burger, etc., but when you get there you see it's not true. The only vegan real option is hummus and falafel. They even label french fries as "vegetarian".
Read moreThere was only one waiter and the (apparently) boss was yelling at him all the time. Very uncomfortable. It was not his fault to have more work than what one person can do.
When we finally got the food the portion was quite smaller if you compare to the pictures in the menu and very poor quality.
Completely disappointing.
I think HappyCow must check the pictures that are shown in the gallery because the burger is a meat one and they don't have any vegan/vegetarian desserts.
Pros: Absolutely none
Cons: 40 min to get the food, Boss yelling at the waiter, Small portions and deceptive menu

Disappointing - Edit
There were a lot of people and the stuff was totally overstained. The pita on my girlfriends israel plate was modly but the owner refused to appologize as the pita "comes in sealed" so there "is no possibility that this could happen". Even if the pita was homemade.. its too expensive for what you get.

Warm Friendly Staff and Great Falafel & Hummus - Edit
Comfortable mix of restaurant and bar with a great lounge area as well as standard table seating. The menu has a good selection of vege and vegan options of Mediterranean cuisine with excellent falafel, hummus, and pita. We had a selection of these plus a salad and some house made potato wedges. Make sure you get the chilli and coriander condiments if you like a bit of spice. Even on a cold night in January there were quite a few tourists and locals enjoying a filling and tasty meal.

breakfast options weren't the greatest - Edit
Vegan breakfast options are white bread with jam and the hashbrowns. The owner offered to cook the hashbrowns in olive oil separate from the bacon which was nice. They also had a salad on the breakfast menu but I didn't feel like that for breakfast so didn't inquire about dressings.

service - Edit
It took them 10 minuets to welcome me after walking in. Then I ordered and I was told they’d get me a drink right away. 15 minuets pass by and nobody has brought my drink. The owner saw that I was waiting for a drink so he brought it to me. Here is what frustrated me the most. I ordered falafel and hummus. It took 35 minuets to bring a plate of hummus and I waited around 50 more minuets for my falafel. It wasn’t gonna come even though I got up 3 times and asked when my order was going to be ready because someone came and asked if I was waiting for something else and then ran to the kitchen. They didn’t know what I was waiting for! It’s absolutely absurd that hummus and falafel would take 90 minutes to get to a table. You think it won’t get any worse? You’re wrong. I waited in line 30 minuets to pay because they’re manually, literally with a calculator, calculating everyone’s bill.

Loved the location, atmosphere and owner was lovely. Portion sizes are MUCH smaller than they seem on the menu and things came out in drips and drabs rather than altogether. Food was average but always a relief having vege options listed and English speaking staff

4 star food, 2 star bar - Edit
Slightly shabby local bar, but serving dinner late, which is just what we needed when hungry at 10pm. Menu mislabels what is vegan vs vegetarian but waiter cleared it up. Delicious felafel and hummus, decent prices. I wouldn't seek it out, but is a good option when in the area.

There are many vegetarian options and a few vegan ones. The owner is very nice. It is a good place to drink and have small bites. I wanted the pizza to be less small even if it costed more. The atmosphere is nice.

מאוד טעים! - Edit

Good comfort food, very friendly staff - Edit
This is a good place to go if you're looking for some comfort food. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff, portion sizes were decent (especially compared to many other places in Kyoto), and vegetarian and vegan options were both clearly marked on the menu. There wasn't much in the way of traditional Japanese food on the menu, but then again the owner is from Israel. Smoking is allowed, which is a bit of a shame, but the atmosphere and staff were so lovely and the food was very tasty, I would happily go again.

Wonderful! - Edit
Beautifully located along a small river in Gojo. The menu is clear and there's a description of every meal so you know what's in it. Many popular western options. Would have loved a few authentic Japanese dishes, but it really is lovely anyway. Being vegan isn't that easy in general in Japan, but the staff is really helpful and meets your needs. Delicious food!

Mixed Experience - Edit
We enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant. Sadly, smoking is permitted which diminished my appetite. Orders came out one at a time...two of us had finished eating long before 4th order arrived. Vegan items are not clear on the menu, just vege indicators. Pizza Zahtar was very small, plain and somewhat mediocre. Falafel pita was delicious, but much smaller than appears in menu...definitely get the full order. Pickle starter delicious...but sauce is not vegan.
