Great vegan xmas meal

Had the sweet potato roulade xmas main, red lentil pate and crispy onion rings. Every single dish was absolutely delicious. Nothing could have been improved. Portions were large, good variety of ingredients, reasonably priced. The location is also stunning and has on site parking.

Excellent vegan lunch!

We dropped into George III hotel when visiting Barmouth and weren't really expecting much in the way of vegan food. We were wrong! They had a vegan Shepherd's pie (lentil based) and because my partner has a soy allergy they checked and also had a vegan curry for him. Both were delicious! We gobbled them down so quickly I forgot to take photos. They also do hummus and roasted vegetables sandwiches and a vegan pate. They are dog friendly (extremely so) and the staff are knowledgeable, very pleasant and accommodating. Wonderful experience all round!

They really tried

First, it's great that the pub has vegan food on the menu. They've obviously really tried and that's got to be celebrated. But it would be nice if the food was thought out a little more. I had the Malaysian curry (which was offered as a meat and a vegan option). It was Ok, but to bulk it out, they added falafel....which did not go with the curry.

Starter was a lentil and chilli pate which was passable, but not as good as most vegans would make at home.

The only pudding available was a vanilla ice cream or sorbet....there were about 8 or 9 none vegan options. So that needs to be worked on.

Pros: Tried, and nice to see vegan food on a pub menu, Lovely young staff in restaurant

Cons: Not quite up to standard with vegan cooking, Need to give a lot more thought to dishes, Would a vegan pudding be difficult?

Welcoming place and good food

Walking the Mawddach Trail in August with my wife we needed a place to eat. Having seen the Happy Cow review we visited.
Although the middle of August, we were early enough for lunch to find a table free but it soon became busy. The staff were friendly and helpful and I ordered the Hummous salad - which is vegan. There were several choices which I could have had and it took me a while to make up my mind!
The salad was packed with pecans, olives and other nutritious goodies, well put together and very tasty!
We would definitely go again - there are plenty of options for me!

Pros: Delicious food!, Friendly, helpful staff, Welsh and English spoken here!

Beautiful pub with good vegan choices!

This pub is a hidden gem with stunning views and a lovely atmosphere. They offered quite a few vegan options that were absolutely delicious, we had the vegan pate which was divine and something I’ve never come across as a vegan! For mains we had a potato curry topped with Indian style falafels and a large salad which was incredible. Can not recommend this pub enough.

Pros: Healthy and delicious , Friendly, Good value for money

Cons: Could have more options
