A good choice of refreshing vegan gelato - Edit
We stumbled on this ice-cream shop while checking out the Shokunomiyako Farmers' Market. Six of the options were vegan - mango, pineapple, watermelon, fresh melon, strawberry, and soda pop. The staff didn't speak much English, but all the vegan options are marked with the soy allergen (大豆), while the dairy options are marked with the milk allergen (乳), so be sure to avoid that.
Read moreWe ordered our three scoops in a cup at the machine next to the counter, and got the mango, pineapple and fresh melon. The staff topped it with a mini cone and when I, panicked, asked if the cone contained milk or eggs, they confirmed that the cones also do not contain any animal ingredients.
It was quite nice to get some ice-cream on a hot day, but I would like to see a few more exciting non-fruit options.
