Made With Love - Edit
I visited this cute little cafe three times, twice I got the "conixha de jaca" (jackfruit) because I couldn't stop thinking about it after the first time. A traditional Brazilian fast food veganized. It is baked made with cassava and chickpea flour, stuffed with jackfruit, drizzled with olive oil and topped with herbs. They warmed it for me in the toaster oven and consciously used banana leaf instead of foil.
Read moreThe last time I went I had a slice of gluten free tiramisu cake made with coffee and chocolate, I was in complete bliss. I really appreciate that they don't use gluten in most of their offerings and it is all handmade with love.
Besides the food, the staff is AMAZING...I looked forward to seeing them just as much as the food. They were incredibly helpful and always showed me so much love.
It is located upstairs from a shared space where different artisans sell their products. They also sell Indian style clothing, essential oils, and other natural beauty products.
You MUST visit while in Sao Paulo!
Pros: Lovely staff, Flavor burst, Cozy, warm vibes

Food highlight of trip to Sao Paulo - Edit
Very impressed with the food I had at Gauri Cafe. As a healthy vegan.
Read moreThis place was different. The appetizers might have been good. As a vegan, I was seriously surprised at the variety and quality of the different options. This was the food highlight of my trip to Sao Paulo.
I'll be back soon when I come to Brazil.

Nice atmosphere but bad food - Edit
We found this place during the day after arriving and finding it closed the night before. The space was beautiful and intimate within a small boutique store. We ordered a couple of juices and a focaccia (R$16.50) each. I want to say good things about this place, like how warm and intimate it feels and how nice the staff were, but unfortunately the food took ages to arrive and the focaccia was bad to the extent I was forcing it down. The apple and blackberry juices (R$12 each) were nice but the food suffered from being frozen and microwaved. Additional star for non-food aspects.

Gauri Coffee is a plant-based proposal, with organic, gluten free and would never use microwaves.

Brazilian atmosphere with Indian touch - Edit
Incredible environment and wonderful service! the food is intuitive, natural, organic, delicious, loving, tasty and fresh! It's a mind-blowing experience! the attendants are all affectionate and attentive. the cheese bread is the best vegan I've ever eaten! Hot chocolate is the most tasty: they put a creamy chcolate on the bottom of the glass and chocolate shavings on top of the chocolate, forming a unique taste experience! If there is any salty that we are very eager and frozen, they bake on time and come warm and crispy. But on hot days they work more with natural snacks. cold drinks and kombuchas are as delicious as hot drinks. the jackfruit drumstick is unique. I am a fan of this place and very good for those looking for a Brazilian atmosphere with Indian touch, tranquil, relaxing, the sound of mantras and incense aroma!

Nice idea, must do better - Edit
The concept is great, the server lovely, the food not so much: the hot chocolate was not even properly mixed with the water (lumps and most of it at the bottom), 2 of the 4 savory was partially frozen, one so much so it had to be sent back, the cheese bread was a glutinous concoction that gave me a belly ache that I got by the time I had left and still have some 18 hours later, the chocolate cake was smooth but the crust incredibly overpowering and took the pleasure away from the experience. I so much hope they take this review as an opportunity to improve.

to make this comment, surely you do not know enjoyed the wonders of that place! the hot choclate has a piece of chocolate underneath .. maybe that's why you thought it wasn't well stirred. and the stomach ache can be due to the mix of cheese bread and mush. Give him one more chance that I believe you will be surprised .. I tell you this from my heart, because that place changed my life!

Cute and cozy shop - Edit
This is the place to go if you want some yummy desserts (sweet and savory). The food is fresh and hand made. They offer many drinks as well. The cafe has a very Indian (ganesh) vibe and they also sell their own merchandise such as incense sticks and clothes. The owner and employees are very nice and were so helpful in translating the dishes. Reasonably priced.
Read moreTo find the cafe- follow your GPS directions which will take you to a clothing store front. Walk inside towards the back. You will see more small clothing stores. Walk up the stairs and you will find the cafe on the second floor. It is not hard to find- you can also ask some shop owners as they are familiar with the location.
