Lively neighbourhood spot - Edit
Almost overwhelming amount of choice - pizza, curries, noodles and more. Great sharing starters available. Serve your own bread - which for us meant lots of very yummy bread (yay!). Excellent menu labelling. They had an English-friendly menu for dolts like us, and the staff were very friendly.
Read moreOh, and the food itself was really good too! Breaded mushrooms and fried potato hashes for starter, and excellent curry and noodles for main.
Pros: good atmosphere, loads of choice, very tasty food

Menú de día muy bueno - Edit
Nos encanta el Garraxi y por eso solemos ir bastante. Tienen un menú de día muy completo (entrante, primero, segundo y postre) y a muy buen precio.

But is cider vegan? - Edit
I find myself almost pinching myself as I type this, but it was a relief to move from France to Spain so we could eat fresh vegetables! You never used to get much in the way of fresh veg in Spain. Anyway, my partner had a spinach salad, and I had a delicious rice and tofu and veg thing. Oh, and a bottle of Basque cider: very refreshing at just 6% alcohol. When I went to pay, the owner admonished me for not pouring it correctly: Basque cider is flat, so you are supposed to pour it from a great height, to induce a little effervescence. I did that, but you're supposed also to pour just a little dribble into your glass, whereas I filled mine up.
Read more"I know" I said, "but I was very thirsty" (it was 40 degrees that day). "Besides," I asked "is cider really vegan?" "Of course," she said "Basque cider contains nothing but apples". "The same is true of west country rough cider in my country" I said, "but they say that they throw dead rats in - to give it body". She looked alarmed.
"I expect it's a rural myth" I said.
Pros: Good cooking, Basque cider, Fresh vegetables

Fairly good daily menu - Edit
Lovely restaurant serving an unsophisticated and affordable 4-course daily menu. Most of the choices were vegan when I had lunch.

Friendly service, ok food - Edit
Very nice staff. Place is hidden down a back street not too far from train station, a little bit dark. Me and my girlfiend couldnt agree on the food but overall it was ok but definately areas they could improve on.

Great choice, cute location - Edit
This place is hidden away down a little street. It has a cute atmosphere and a lot of choice on the menu. It’s casual, you help yourselves to plates and cutlery and bread. The staff are friendly and the wine is good. Downside? Waaaaay too much salt in the food. Ease off on the salt and it’d be 4 stars.

A fantastic option - Edit
I had menu del dia on a monday, while almost all of the other options were closed in donosti. It was 3 course menu, with dessert, and wine included for 12 euros, this city is one of the most expensives in Spain. So the result it was quite busy. The food was ok, i guess they can improve the taste, basque cuisine is known for being one the best in the world, and i how passionate basque people are about food, so that's why I'm saying the can still do better. Almost all of the options were vegan, even desserts and clearly labelled. So I'm rating this place 5 stars, but of course i'd love if they go fully vegan. Whenever i'll be back in donostia i'll visit them again

Great Place! - Edit
We had lunch on a Monday and were surprised by how crowded it was. An hour later we knew why: lovely staff, really good food and very reasonable price! A 4 course menu including as much bread, water and red wine as you want for 12€! There were 3 choices for every course, 2 of them vegan. If I lived here, I‘d be a regular guest!

I had potatoes with a curry sauce for an appetizer which had a great flavor. The pesto pasta also had a great flavor and was creamy. I finished with a delicious brownie for dessert. Lots of vegan options on the menu

Un clasico de Donostia - Edit
El mejor restaurante vegetariano de Donostia. Lider indiscutible.

Delicious and cheap lunch - Edit
We were here for lunch and it was a very good deal; 11 euros for 5 courses (some just juice/soup). The food was tasty and the waiter very helpful. There was a choice of 3 dishes for each section of the menu, with vegan options clearly marked.

Nice place! - Edit
In all it's a nice place. The food is good although not excellent. The prices are affordable even if I think that they could adjust them a little more, taking into account that the bread, forks, cutters and spoons are self-service. As a last commentary, I simply don't understand why vegetarian restaurants do not turn into vegan restaurants. Whatever...

No problems finding good vegan food here. But would it be so hard to have vegan brownies or something for dessert? Currently only offering a mango smoothie (May 2015).

A hidden gem in residential San Sebastian - Edit
Had a fantastic meal at Garraxi. We were served by the friendly lady (owner?)and a smiling attendant. We ordered cautiously keeping our expectations low but loved every dish. The starters of crispy pakoras (Indian-style) melted in the mouth. My vegetarian pasta had unusual East Asian flavours which actually worked well. My friend's seitan was perfectly done and full of flavour. Would highly recommend a visit. Hope I can go again sometime and try all the other yummy-sounding dishes on the Garraxi.

Work those taste buds!! - Edit
This is such a fantastic place to eat, even if you are not veggie. It is good value for money and the food is very satisfying. If you are veggie and visiting San Sebastian, you definitely need to go here. I personally recommend the vegetable croquettes as a starter. They are the perfect way to start off. I had the pizza BI twice in a row because I just thought it was fantastic. You can help yourself to some bread and the service is pretty quick. The ingredients are fresh. The staff are okay, they don't seem to be very friendly but overall, definitely worth a go.

This is a cool little Basque cafe, with an extensive menu (mostly in Basque) that has many clearly marked vegan options. I had an open burger, a salad, and guacamole, all of which were tasty and had large servings. Very pleasant.

No frills but solid and local spirit - Edit
Went to this place for lunch. The menu was fixed (two choices per dish) and partially a self-service place. You get a three-course lunch with water for €12. The food was tasty. The servings large and the guests seemed to be local. The menu was only in Spanish and the waitress also only spoke Spanish. Good atmosphere - almost homey. A good place to go for a solid meal with no frills.

Cons: Only Spanish, Weary look in the restaurant
