Update: sadly quality has gone downhill on the vegan menu and it is no longer worth the price point. Terribly sad about that.

Dissapointed - Edit
The plus is that they do have plenty of vegan options.
Read moreThe negative is that this place Used to be good. Gradually we've been frequenting less and less because food was too salty, their "bacon" would literally be burned every single time despite having asked for sausage. Tamales were dry. Prices have gone up way too much (which is understandable) and, I wouldnt mind paying IF the quality of food was still good. Beans now taste like they are using Rosarita canned beans and the rice was old and chewy. Friend got the chili fries and said they were still too salty, jack fruit was also salty. A few other friends said the same, that they hadnt gone to Gardunos anymore because they didnt like the taste of the food now.
Really dissapointed. I used to really like this place, but sadly quality has gone downhill.

Bomb vegan mexican food. - Edit
Ordered tamales and vegan queso fresco for the holidays. All outstanding. I personally don't care too much about non-vegan places that also serve vegan food, but if you do, I guess that could be the only con here. Great spot.

Authentically Mexican - Edit
Would give 5 stars if I could. The tamales tasted like the ones my grandmothers make. I have yet to have queso fresco because it is so hard to imitate, but somehow Garduno's works their magic to make it taste just like real queso fresco. Even the non-vegans in my family wanted a try. So good! Will definitely be back and order from them for the holidays to come.

Great dessert case! - Edit
It’s a yummy taqueria and convenient drive in set up with a window to order. I think the most unique thing is the vegan dessert case which is something you can’t find at most taquerias.

My favorite restaurant on the planet - Edit
Large vegan menu. Enchiladas, tortas, tamales, tacos, pozole, champurrado, gansitos, cakes, you name it they've got it!
Read moreI don't even like jackfruit, but somehow they make it soooo yummy! They must simmer it in the sauce overnight because it's tender, juicy, and so flavorful. I've driven out here on many occasions just for the food. I live an hour and a half away. Always buy tons of extra food to take home
Pros: Large vegan menu, Authentic Mexican food, Fire
Cons: Not fully vegan :(

Must try vegan menu!!! - Edit
I love the amount of vegan options available. I love that the authentic Mexican taste still is consistent in the vegan menu. My favorite is the machaca plate! The vegan dessert options are very delicious too. #Veganuary

If I could rate this 5 stars I WOULD!! I love this place so much, it is so close and convenient for me!! Going vegan I enjoyed so much, the only downside was leaving my favorite dishes I had growing up, but thanks to Garduno’s I’m able to still enjoy some amazing tamales y pozole!

I wish I knew this place was here sooner. It’s so close and amazing vegan food. I got the soyrizo burrito, vegan nachos with jackfruit and two tamales (one of each, forgot what was in them already) and everything was amazing. Good prices too. I spend more at del taco than I did here.

Chef is vegan! - Edit
So I had read on recent reviews about the shared cooktop of meats and vegan food and decided to ask the chef and clarify. Not only do they cook on separate areas but the chef is vegan himself! I told him about the reviews and he was so surprised and said there was no way they shared the same cooktop.

I will definitely go back for more!
FYI... if anyone has nut allergies, they use cashew cheese which they make in house and also a cashew based sour cream. You can ask for Daiya cheese as an alternative if you wish.
Pros: Separate vegan menus breakfast/lunch/dinner, Open late! , Vegan chef is knowledgeable of vegan needs!
Cons: No prices shown on the vegan menu, Nut based cheese (for those with allergies), No restroom

Caution! - Edit
They use a shared grill and I sometimes find small pieces of meat mixes into my vegan burritos and tacos. The food is great, just wish they had a dedicated grill so that vegans don’t accidentally ingest meat.

Vegan menu!! - Edit
I’m so happy to have found this Mexican fast food joint in Baldwin Park. So far I’ve had the vegan tamales: red chile w/ jackfruit, green chile w/ jackfruit and cheese (Daiya mozzarella) with jalapeño. All very tasty and authentic. I also had the soyriso burrito. It was loaded with goodness! It has soyriso, tofu scramble, grilled onion, potato, beans and avocado. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!
