Incredible Vegan Cantonese Food! - Edit
I am truly shocked that this restaurant does not have more ratings on HappyCow. It is an absolute hidden gem for vegans in Bangor, and I can not recommend Garden Cantonese Restaurant enough to vegans who are looking for delicious Cantonese food in or around the area.
Read moreBooking a reservation here was really easy, and our entire party received a warm welcome from the lovely staff working here. The menu is varied and extensive and contains two sections for vegan and vegetarian appertisers and mains. I had one course, which was the Sweet and Sour Vegeterian 'Pork' (suitable for vegans), with a side dish of Fried Rice made suitable for vegans without the egg. I was incredibly impressed with my meal as were my meat-eating friends with their food. The portions sizes were just right, and every single mouthful was utterly delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the vegetables in my main dish were fresh and tender. The 'pork' in the main dish (I believe was seitan) melted in my mouth and was extremely enjoyable. To go with my meal, I had a pot of Green Tea, and that was really lovely and refreshing.
I absolutely will return to Garden Cantonese Restaurant. In fact, they are now the first Cantonese restaurant I would think of going to when eating out with friends as the menu choices were so great and because I had such a good experience here. They also do take-away orders to collect and post extensively on their Facebook page about their vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. I can't wait to return!

The servers were really friendly. The seaweed is the best I’ve had. I strongly recommend the seitan pork especially.

There is a whole part of the menu dedicated to vegetarian and vegan options. If you let them know you’re vegan before you order they’ll ensure all food is egg / dairy free.
Read moreI had the hot and sour soup, sizzling tofu with green peppers and black beans and noodles.
The soup was so tasty! Full of chilli like it should be but you can ask for less chilli. The tofu was delicious and cooked really well. It had bite to it, not soggy!
Would definitely eat there again to try out more of the dishes.

I’ve never eaten there before, despite being a local and went with my carnivorous friend. I had a tofu dish which was made from scratch. It took about 20 minutes and was very tasty indeed.
