Nothing vegan when I visited

I stopped by today and didn’t see any vegan sandwiches or sweets. When I asked, the servers seemed a bit confused—that is, they didn’t say “oh, we just ran out!” nor “we normally have vegan items, just not today!” Instead, they seemed like this was a question they didn’t get to often, and then realized that they had nothing vegan to offer. I would normally ask that HappyCow remove this bakery from their listings, except that other reviewers evidently had better luck than I—but maybe that was in the past? It couldn’t hurt to stick your head in to see if things have changed if you are in the area—what I did is go next door to Cafe de Nata.

Meh..

Sometimes I wonder if places ask vegans what sort of vegan options they’d like before they go on sale because places like Gails never seem to get it right! The vegan hot chocolate is always a winner for me as is their chai latte but the food options are bizarre!

The only sweet treat is a chocolate tahini bite which is the size of a fingernail and the sandwich options never hit the spot. It’s a shame because the atmosphere is always lovely and their breads are delicious.

Decent, but needs more vegan options

I stopped to try their olive bread and their vegan chocolate and tahini bite. The bread was ok, but nothing special. It lacked flavor and could have had a better texture. The texture did not feel fresh even though it was apparently baked that day.
The chocolate tahini bite was tasty, but again, nothing special. It was soft and chocolatey. Like a small brownie bite. If you’re stopping by for a hot beverage and feel like having something sweet to go with that, I would recommend it. I like that it’s small, so you can enjoy a bite of sweetness without having to eat an entire pastry.
I was a bit disappointed, however, by their lack of vegan pastry options. They have a huge variety of baked goods and only the chocolate tahini bite and a strawberry coconut bar cake that looked to be exceedingly sweet were the only vegan options.

Cons: Few vegan options

Best coffee in London

My favourite chain for coffee, offers nut milk and vegan cocoa (hot chocolate) too. Vegan cakes and sweets available.

Pricey

To be fair it's probably got massive overheads being located right next to South Kensington tube station so you're going to pay a premium. The bread looked great and there were plenty of cakes and pastries etc. I didn't see any vegan labelling.

The outside area was a bonus, although it's a very busy area and there were quite a few pigeons regularly landing on the table.

It all depends what you like. If you're prepared to pay the extra for nice bakery products in a very convenient location then you'll like it.

Pros: Convenient location, The bread looked good, Vegan options if you ask

Cons: Expensive, Pigeons

Great Bread

Bought an Olive Ciabatta loaf and some drinks, which were all lovely but quite pricey. The prepared food looked really good, but I wasn't in the mood for salad or cake, and the vegan sandwich was really uninteresting (think houmous and carrot). Outside seating was nice because it was a nice day, but very busy!

Pros: Good quality bread, Nice coffee, Clear labelling

Cons: Busy, Seating right by busy road, Boring vegan option
