Fast & Easy Tameya sandwiches

In a nutshell: CHEAP conveniently located Old Cairo restaurants, for a quick fix Egyptian meal bite.

THE GOOD
This fast food chain IS actually fast, you pay, get your stub, go to the people that prepare the meals and almost immediately they give you, your order.

THE BAD
There’s a limited amount of Vegan items on the menu and no dessert options.

THE BEST
Other than the speed, the fúl sandwich is tasty and the tameeya sandwich texture is on point. Although the portions are small but they serve their purpose and you can’t ask for more considering that (at the time of this review) they’re 6.50 EGP which is about 0.21 USD cents, come on’ now, you can’t beat those prices!

Pros: Price, Speed , Quality

Cons: Limited vegan options, No vegan desserts

English menu

I was happy to find this place and even happier that they have an English menu. The food was okay. The banahanouh was good the veggie soup not so much but happy to have some veggies. Very cheap

Gad

Does the job. The falafel was nice. The foul (beans) was OK and needed salt. The hummus was sour but tasted better with the bread. I was starving, so, very grateful for this option.

Some vegan options

I went twice. Typical things to eat are tamiya, foul, babaganouch, tahini, humus, ... it's more expensive then on the street, and less good. But it is ok. The menu is in arabic only.

Pros: fast food

Cons: menu only in arabic

Busy

Gad is always very busy, so be careful. There is an upstairs sit-down area, but we didn't get to try that. We ordered falafel and hummus in pita, though they also have ful that would be vegan-friendly. At Gad you order first, at the cash register (and be persistent - people will cut in front of you left and right), get your receipt, and take that to the food prep area behind you while they make it on the spot and return it to you. The menu is in Egyptian so I'm not sure what other kind of stuff they offer - if any Arabic readers out there would translate some of it, that would be awesome! But, if you need cheap (and I mean _cheap_) food in a hurry, head to Gad.

Pros: ridiculously cheap, vegan friendly

Cons: busy, chaotic
