almost zero options

The person at the counter said the only vegan option was the packaged plantains. Black bean burger was not vegan. I'm sure one of the salads could be made vegan upon request, but that option wasn't presented to me, and I was looking for something more than a salad.

Pros: Nice cocktails

Cons: no vegan options, didn't care that there were no vegan options, how about a vegan black bean burger?

Delicious spot with awesome veg and vegan options!

Whoa, we love this place so much! There are such awesome, fresh and healthful options here. I love the Tropical Salad with extra avocado and the BSE (TO DIE FOR layers of rice, beans, muenster & cilantro lime salsa) and the churros are the best treat.

Pros: Fresh and Original Flavors, Incredible salads, salsas and the best plantains, BSE is to die for

Cons: Parking sometimes is tough

Vegan Galore - Vegetarians have even more!

Can't wait to order another meal of incredible slow Cooked Black Beans, a huge Tropical Salad with tofu and a guava vinaigrette of my dreams, and Cinnamon and Sugar Plantains for dessert! Yes, please! I'm a huge Frita Batidos fan and I think maybe the other reviewers didn't get the right information about what's available? They're right that there's a lot of vegetarian options, but you can get a delicious vegan meal, too! Everything is made fresh and often locally sourced. Incredible flavors! Not a fully vegetarian or vegan restaurant so 4 stars is the highest rating on Happy Cow.

Here's the whole Happy Cow friendly menu:
- Slow Cooked Black Beans (Vegan) My Review: Spicy, depth of flavors, delicious!
- Tropical Salad - Tons of fresh greens, Tropical Fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds tossed w/guava vinaigrette and finished w/seared and spiced local tofu (Vegan) My Review: These flavors are bright, fresh, sweet, but balanced. Actually filling and I love it with the beans.
- Crisped Plantains (Vegan) Review: Incredible by themselves or as a means to shovel salsa and avocado. Oh so amazing!
- Cilantro Lime Salsa (Vegan) Review: Big flavor punch! Elevates my idea of salsa.
- Avocado Spread (Vegan) Review: Rich, creamy delight. Perfect on anything!
- Cinnamon and Sugar Plantains (Vegan) Review: So unique and addictive! Crispy indulgence with a warm spice.
- Tropical Slaw (Vegetarian and can be made vegan upon request)
- Black Bean Frita (Vegetarian)
- Frita Black Bean Bowl (Vegetarian)
- Coconut Ginger Rice (Vegetarian)
- Twice Fried Ripe Plantains w/Sweet Chile Mayo (Vegetarian)
- ‘BSE’ A layered dish of Coconut Ginger Rice, Slow Cooked Black Beans, melted Muenster, Cilantro Lime Salsa (Vegetarian)
- Loaded Plantains - Twice Fried Ripe Plantains topped w/slow cooked black beans, melted Muenster, Cilantro Lime Salsa, Avocado Spread and finally, crème fraîche! (Vegetarian)
- Churros (Vegetarian)
- Batidos (Vegetarian)

Pros: Elevated flavors , Great vibe , Something for everyone - Just ask if not sure.

Cons: It's so popular sometimes the wait is long.

Limited options

My work used to order from here because it had options for “everybody,” but seemed really meat-centric and I usually was left with chips and guacamole. So sad. Make sure beans are ordered without meat juices.

I used to eat here

I loved eating here when I was vegetarian, but their only vegan options are side dishes (like fries) which aren't very interesting. The black bean burger isn't vegan.

Cons: Not enough vegan options.
