Established in 1994, the sanctuary is located on 10 acres in rural Kent and relies on public donations. The mission of Friend is to offer lifelong, no-kill, free-roaming, safe-haven to unwanted, neglected, and abused non-human animals while educating about animals, veganism and ecological sustainability. Open to the public for special events, at which vegan food is served. Transport from train station available for main events. Check website to confirm details.

Went to an amazing and informative open day for my birthday last year. It was a great experience and the owner clearly cares about his wards.

Vegan Paradise ~1Hr Outside of London - Edit
FRIEND provides sanctuary for us all. They offer a rare opportunity to reconnect with nature and the true ambassadors of the vegan movement, the animals. It would be hard to leave there without feeling like your batteries have been recharged.
Read moreFrom some of the newest residents such as baby turkeys and goats to Rosie the matriarch of the cows who turns 21 this year, you'll have the chance to connect with the ~200 residents who live there. FRIEND also has a vegan cafe on site with a rotating menu. We last had a Thai curry there that was excellent. (See picture in the gallery)
They have regular open / volunteer days. They're open to the public Wednesdays and Sundays during summer from 10:30a.m. to 4:00p.m. They hold several events throughout the year, including campouts and a music festival. They provide transport from the Paddock Wood train station for larger events.
Check out their website to confirm details under the 'visit' section and learn more about some of the amazing animals who live there.

One of the Happiest Places! - Edit
So grateful to everyone at F.R.I.E.N.D. for their tireless work! Loved my visit when in the U.K. from America. Meeting Rosie and Dave and the rest of the residents was an experience I’ll never forget. Support your local farmed animal sanctuary!!
